Folks, We have returned from another trip to Iceland with ALL hunters having opportunity to take their Reindeer bulls on the first day of hunting. However, as ever we had to work for them! The guys having to ride for a few hours on 6x6 atvs, before climbing for a couple hours and finally closing on the Reindeer herds. This resulted in 14-16 hour hunting days and a bunch of tired but happy hunters! This brings our results to nineteen hunts conducted, with ALL of the hunters having opportunity to take their their beast during day One. Obviously, weather could influence this run, however it seems likely that you will have opportunity to shoot your deer in the first day. We have also extended our river access to a further 16km of awesome salmon fishing (several excellent Salmon taken during our visit) over water that also has great numbers of big Brown trout and Arctic Char. Geese numbers will vary dependent on food availability, however with over 18,000 acres permission, we should be able to find one or two! This season, we hunted the sea cliffs in the south of the region. This is true alpine hunting, closer to chasing Chamois than Alaskan Caribou and you will want to be fit and mobile to enjoy this offer. If you feel this may present too great a physical challenge, do contact me, as we can look towards gaining tags in more accessible areas. Rough ground means that you will be hunting 1-1 as the ground is just too extreme to attempt to extract two carcasses and three men on a single ATV. Icelandic Reindeer Bull: £2265 GBP Reindeer Cow: £1940 Includes *Government issued tag, *one day 1-1 guided hunting, *two days opportunity for Game fishing & Goose shooting. *up to 3 days food & accommodation, *Off-road hunt transport, *Field preparation of your trophy River access (from midday to 8pm) costs around £90, if required. Fish that you choose to keep will generally be cooked and served as your evening meal. Reindeer season runs from 15th July to 15th Sept, mature bulls being in hard antler (under velvet) mid early August. Goose season opens from the 20th August allowing you to enjoy a combination Reindeer/Geese/Game Fishing safari. Should you be interested in joining us and entering the draw for a 2024 tag, then please let me know shortly, and we can make a plan. Previous seasons reports and references available on request. Best wishes and looking forward to hunting with you next year! Sounds interesting. Waiting to see answers to the questions re: securing tags. What is the process for bringing guns into Iceland? What is the easiest way to get to the hunting area from the US? What is the cost for extending the hunt to five days? Tom Z NRA Life Member

Folks, Apologies, I have not monitored this thread while away hunting. Please, get in touch for more detail, however here are your queries answered: Are tags a guarantee draw? No, the odds of drawing will alter dependant on the hunting area you apply for but can be very good. How are trophies shipped home? Local taxidermist ensures the mount/ antlers/cape etc. are prepped to required vet standards. Shipping agent delivers to your designated point of import. Different countries, different options. What are typical shot distances? I would suggest 180-200m are the average numbers seen over the last few years. What is the process of applying for the permit? Provide me with your personal id / hunting documentation and you will be entered for the 2024 draw. This takes place in late February - by early March you will be aware of having won a tag in the initial draw. Kind regards, Ian Just taking my rifle for a walk!........

Ian What is "hunter documentation"? Would an American hunter fly into Reykjavík? What is the process for a hunter to bring their own firearm?
