Hi Saeed
Trust you are doing well, thank you for pointing that out, Laundry Service and meals are obviously included in the hunting part of the safari, as is standard in the industry. I have changed this accordingly.

Some meals are excluded on the touring part only as it is diffycult for us to know what client will order form a menu at a 3rd party establishment and work out a costing on this. I hope this clarifies it.
Regards Johann

It was not so clear in your original offer, that is why I asked.

As I reported earlier in the year I had an excellent hunt with Shona Safaris. Despite the drought a few years ago, Johann still produces really good trophies while concentrating on the oldest beasts he can find. The only common species that hasn't recovered yet is the warthog. We saw a few but the boars need a few more years.
The lodge is first class and is a birders paradise.

May I make a suggestion? I have been on trips where clients are given three food choices from the menu ahead of time. You choose one from the list for each meal involved. That way, the outfitter knows what his/her costs are going to approximate, and clients are not feeling that the outfitter and/or the tour is cheap because they're having to worry about coming out of pocket for food in a foreign country-especially in Africa, after they've already paid for daily rates, tour costs, etc. Or, have pre-made meals made and in a cooler ahead of time. May not be a big deal to some, but to most who are wanting to have an all in Safari and tour and not worry about carrying cash (especially foreign cash) or using their credit card in a foreign country, they can fully relax and enjoy it. For me, something like this is an unnecessary irritation and makes me feel that it's a cheap way out for the Outfitter. Not wanting to shame anyone-just offering a way out of that. Just my positive suggestion.

I booked a very similar trip with Johann back in 2019. I was accompanied by wife and youngest son. We had fantastic time and it was a wonderful introduction to Africa for my family. Johann is honest and hard working and will do everything he can to make your trip a success.

I offer anybody considering this a brief recap of my most recent experience with Johann/Shona, and Namibia in general.

We went on our third extended trip with Johann this past September, this time taking our son Bill, his wife, and their 2.5 year old little girl. A few may have followed our trip on FB where I posted hundreds of pictures for family and friends.

The last two trips with Johann were with our daughter, and it was wonderful to take more of our family including Bill who had not been to Africa in maybe 12 years, Sarah on her first trip to Africa but had been dreaming about it since meeting Bill and hearing his/our stories, and of course our sweet granddaughter. Obviously my personal confidence and trust in Johann is strong.

We had a great time with the focus being on touring and activities, spending significant time at Johann’s lodge which has come to feel like our home away from home. Johann attended to all details, and while we had key activities planned we were able to be spontaneous and flexible. It is amazing the number of cool experiences that can be fit into a 2+ week trip when you keep moving, yet we all felt totally relaxed as one should on holiday.

A highlight was the surprise “bush party” that Johann and Ilouwna threw for our daughter-in law’s 30th birthday. Bill and I wanted something memorable, but we never expected how special it would be. It was indeed a surprise that we drove to after some guinea shooting, and set in a dry stream bed, surrounded by granite boulders, with the glorious Namibian sunset and sounds of the bush. Steaks and game meat on the braai, drinks and even clever HBD decorations. Celebrating with family and friends Sarah said it was the best birthday of her life. I respect the effort and attention to details that went into this, as well as what is required for a trip of this nature.

Johann is a skilled and accomplished “big game PH” and has a great reputation including among his peers in the Namibia hunting and tourist community. He is also excellent at teaching firearm and hunting skills to new shooters, and gets a lot of personal satisfaction out of this.

With an exchange rate of 17:1, we enjoyed the most amazing meals along the coast (Hentiesbaai where his flat is located, Wavis Bay, and of course Swakopmund) and everywhere where we traveled including three awesome lodges where we stayed. I was amazed at the level of service and appreciation of our business, as well as how far our money went at local prices. The food, friendliness and certainly the prices far exceed anything we can get at home.

Namibia is a safe and friendly destination offering a variety of experiences and environments, and very welcoming of tourists and travelers. I would have no problem touring and navigating Namibia on my own as we did the last few days, but with Johann handling the logistics and basic itinerary, it allows for us to focus on the time spent together and just relaxing and having fun.

Although I’ve never hunted with Johan, I’ve hunted six times with his next door neighbor Jan du Plessis of Sebra Hunting Safaris. I met Johan in 2019, and Jan and I shot and hung bait animals for a client of Johan’s hunting Leopard. We hung a Gemsbok, Zebra quarters and a domestic cow quarters and checked them daily. Johan is a highly competent PH who is not only skilled at bagging trophies but at entertaining his hunters and their guests. I’ve done the tours of Etosha and the Skeleton Coast on my own and they’re well worth the time and expense.
