Hello all, I have been authorized by Frans Bussiahn owner of Mankazana Safaris to offer this special hunt. Thank you Kevin Kayn

What, you ask, is a school hunt? Although an alien idea to us here in the US, in the rural farm communities of South Africa it is not uncommon for children as young as six to be sent off to a distant boarding school in order to get a decent education. Seven years ago, in the little town of Bedford in South Africa’s beautiful Eastern Cape Province, a primary school, Bedford Country School, was established so the youngsters would not have to go away to boarding school at such a young age. At present it has 55 students, of all races, and seven teachers in grades 1-3. The school receives zero government funding. Their desire is to add another grade, necessitating at least one additional teacher, space, books, etc. In an effort to raise money for this expansion the animals and taxidermy included in the following package were donated by parents and other involved citizens. 100% of the proceeds from the hunt will go to the school. So, here is your opportunity to contribute to a very noble cause as well as getting a super buy on a super hunt!!

12 full days of hunting for one hunter, 1x1, an observer and the following:

1 Nyala
1 Waterbuck

1 Kudu (Eastern Cape)
1 Red Hartebeest
1 Bontebuck*

1 Bushbuck (Eastern Cape)
1 common Blesbuck
1 Mountain Reedbuck
1 Cape Springbuck
1 Warthog
1 Black Wildebeest

$4000 taxidermy credit

A tour of the Bedford School

All lodging, meals, soft drinks, local beers and liquor

Transportation to and from Port Elizabeth Airport

*-the bontebuck requires a $100 CITES permit to bring into the US.

The hunt will be hosted by Frans Bussiahn, owner of Mankazana Safaris. Frans will also serve as the PH. If two hunters should wish to buy the hunt jointly they could hunt 2x1 or one could be upgraded to 1x1 for an additional $220 per day. Additional animals can be added at current list price.

Based on Mankazana’s current prices (see enclosed 2014 price card) this package is valued at $22,820. YOU CAN BUY IT TODAY FOR $13,000!!! A non-refundable $2000 deposit locks the hunt up. The balance will be due 60 days prior to the hunt. We will try our best to work the hunt in this year or 2015, but openings are limited. 2016 is wide open at the moment.

Please email me with any questions you may have. kskayn@ymail.com

Frans,Kevin,
Could a customer forego the $4000 taxidermy credit and do the hunt for $9000?

Hi Jackalhunter, That is a good question. I know this whole package is a culmination of donations. The parents of the children who attend the school purchased the animals and taxidermy services. Frans's children attend the school and he is donating the day fees of the hunter and observer and also going to be the PH. I will send him an email tonight and get an answer for you. Thank you Kevin

Hello Jackalhunter, I just heard from Frans and he said $9000 will buy this with no taxidermy included. He did say there would be normal dip and pack costs though. In my own opinion this is a really good deal. I am hunting again in 2015 with Frans and he may have a backup bidder on this if you don't take it. Thank you. Kevin

Update: Hello Jackalhunter, Frans sent me an email this morning. He stated he would like to use some of the taxidermy monies for the dip and pack only if you intend to take your animals, as some clients take photos and are done. Leaving everything behind. He would like to include dip and pack in the package. The cost for entire hunt and dip and pack included would then be $10,000. Thank you Kevin

Jackalhunter, Frans sent me another email and explained that the dip and pack with documentation and crating for those trophies would be $500 more than he quoted earlier. So cost of entire hunt w/ dip, pack, doc and crating would be $10,500. He sends his apologies for the error. Thank you Kevin

Kevin,

If two hunters (hunting 2x1) (and no observer) take this hunt, splitting the animals among them, how much would be the daily fee for the second hunter (if any)?

Hello b. Martins, There would be no additional costs. You would be hunting 2x1 splitting the animals on the package as you would like. I do have to make a change though. Frans crunched the numbers on the dip, pack, documentation and crating fees. If you or anyone else wants to go this route instead of $4000 taxidermy credit, the cost would then be $10,500 for entire hunt including dip, pack, doc and crating fees. Thank you Kevin
