Folks,

Johnny and Laura du Plooy/Muchinga adventures have acquired the full 2025 quota for the Nkala GMA that borders the Kafue NP and Lake Itezhi Tezhi which is the largest dam in Zambia.

Johnny hunted this area for five years in the past so he has intimate knowledge of what it can produce and where to find what game.

The GMA supports all the normal Kafue species such as lion, leopard, buffalo, sable 40"+, good numbers of Crawshay's Defassa waterbuck and more common plains game.

The Kafue is noted for huge maned lion. As with most GMAs these days Nkala gets only one lion so with an early season booking you should get a monster. Johnny told me that he expects to fill the leopard quota there quite easily.

One thing I like is that you can do a buffalo/sable combo at buffalo hunt rates and these prices are notably less than normal Kafue rates.

Nkala can be reached from Lusaka with a 6 hour drive or a charter directly into the GMA.

Having worked with the duPlooy for many years I can assure you that this will be a top notch safari and you'll be happy at safari's end.

NOTE: The lion here to include 21 days, concession fee, trophy fee for lion, dip/pack and Licensure comes in at $94,600. It may be hard to believe but if you look around you'll find this a bargain.

Looks good Mark.

Greg Michelson (late) hunted there several years ago and I remember it being good. Good Buffalo concentrations for Kafue and a very nice camp if I remember correctly.

Mark, how did Muchinga end up doing on the Big 4 animals in Upper Lupande?

Johnny was super happy with how it all turned out. Most notably they took all 3 elephant on quota and saw a number of other shooters.

The lion hunter couldn't come until October and he had to cut the hunt short before the "right" lion showed. There are plenty cats in Upper Lupande.

Hello Everyone:

Having hunted with Greg Michelson in Upper Lupanda just this last June, I can avow that it is an excellent place to hunt. Although I am not a cat hunter, we saw one female leopard who let us get a very good look at her before she turned to disappear into the brush. There was also what I would guess to be a good concentration of lion. We could hear them outside the camp every night, sometimes closer than I was comfortable with. We would see their paw prints in the roads as we were looking for other game. There is a good number of buffalo there as well.
