I have just been informed that there is a lion hunt available in the Presidential area in BF. The hunt has to be done no later than 12th April, 2012. The daily rate is usd $24,262 (18,500 EUROS) for 12 days, 1x1 guide, all meals, accomodation, vehicles, staff, trophy care in the field.

Trophy fees payable on game wounded or killed:

Lion $1967 (1500 EUROS)
Buffalo $656 (500 EUROS)
Roan $656 (500 EUROS)

NOTE: PRICES ARE SHOWN IN EUROS AND US$ AT TODAY'S EXCHANGE RATE

There may also be a possibility to take some other antelope depending on what can be arranged at the time.

You will fly to Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso where your PH will meet you. There are direct flights from Paris and other European capitals. You will overnight in a hotel and drive to camp the next day. Your hunt will start the following day.

Not included in daily rate:

Firearms license: 110 E per rifle (the PH has several scoped rifles which you can use if you dont want to take your own. My client last year used his 375H&H on his lion)

Cost of trophy preparation, fumigation, paperwork, crating and air freight of lion and buff trophy (approximately 1200 euros to Europe, to the United states might be a little bit more).

The conditions are just ideal for this hunt! It has been a very dry, hot year in BF and herds of buffalo and plains game are concentrated in the Presidential private preserve as that has the only water source in the area! The lions are there in good numbers, which is why they have issued a licence. This area is not open for sport hunting and the game is undisturbed. It's truly a great opportunity for someone who wants to shoot a lion on foot. This is by no means a guaranteed hunt but the PH has been 100% on lion in the last few years, which is very impressive for a tracked lion hunt. Last year my client shot his lion on the 7th day. This is a 100% wild lion hunt. In terms of trophy you can expect a big mature lion but they generally do not have big manes like MGM maned lions, although you can get a decent one from time to time.

The presidential lodge where you will stay is a very nice air conditioned bungalow which makes nights very pleasant (I can send photos so you can see first hand what it looks like). The Food I am told is also pretty good!

The future of lion hunting in Burkina is not known so if you can do it go now. This hunt cannot be transferred to next year.
