The pix are of lions that have been seen recently just driving around on C9. The camp is super nice as you can see. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THESE LIONS WILL BE IMPORTABLE AT SOME POINT Folks, Mokore Safaris that operates in Zimbabwe and Mozambique has a lion available on Coutada 9 in Mozambique which is a million acres of wild bush. Game on C 9 is abundant to say it mildly. Sable, nyala, bushbuck, kudu, eland, impala, warthog, bushpig, hartebeest, oribi, grysbok, reedbuck, buffalo and excellent lion. The camp is of a very high standard with private chalets, ensuite bath and WiFi available. I have been sending hunters to Mokore on C9 ever since I first hunted it myself in 2007. I thought it was an amazing area at that time and it is far better now. All my hunters I have sent there have been super happy. C 9 can easily be reached from RSA with scheduled flights to Tete, Mozambique where Mokore will meet for the drive to camp. Having been there 2 years ago... There were lion easily found late in the season. I saw 2 without even trying to find them. Lots of plains game there. Mokore runs a good outfit. You might even find that droopy horned Nyala that I couldn't catch up with!

jdollar, At this time lion other than from Niassa are not importable to the US from Mozambique. That doesn't mean they won't be in the future. Of course one could just take pix and save a load of money on shipping and taxidermy. Dan, There are no buffalo available. Mark MARK H. IMHO, if import is not allowed/available then I think the price is way too high

Great deal on a wild lion... unfortunately I am booked solid this year. Hi Mark. Can you explain that please? Those lions are banned for exportation now, are you suggesting they can lift up the ban retroactively? Are you suggesting that a lion hunted while lion from that area are banned for export, will later be able to export?. I dont think this will make any sense for the people responsible of the export ban. Please, let me know if you have further info regarding this. Best regards
|
Administrator |
Mark might know. But, I think if the ban is lifted, then lions hunted after that date would be allowed.
|
One of Us |
Yes Saeed. That is exactly what I think, just the lions hunted after the lifting of the ban, but not this one, that is what it sounds logicall to me, but the post of Mark seems to suggest this lion might be exportable later on if ban is lifted. Just wanted to clarify that

I don’t think Mark was actually suggesting this, but his wording might have given that impression.

Folks, All of this is a little nebulous at this point on importation to the USA of lions from Mozambique other than from Niassa. It is being worked on and that is all I know at this point. I think there is reason to hope that this lion might be importable in the future. Mark MARK H. Explain please? If someone shoots this lion, you are saying there will be a permit to import it? Even it is shot before the permit ban is lifted??
|
one of us |
Folks, There is actually no ban. What actually needs to happen is that operators in Mozambique need to provide documentation to USFG that shows the hunting of lions is sustainable and beneficial to the areas. That's what Zim and Zambia have done and those countries can import lion to the USA. What goes on with the European Union I do not know. Mark MARK H. What is the difference? Can this lion be imported or not? The way we understood it is that it cannot be imported now. Then you say it might be in the future?? This do make any sense??
|

Saeed, At this point it is not importable to the USA. If the USFW requirements are met it could be in the future but nobody I know can give me a solid answer on this today. Mark MARK H. As a side note, 250 more buffalo headed to Coutada 9 as we speak from Marromeu.

Mark, as long as I know, and I talked here with very kwoledgeable people, lion and ele from that particular region is not exportable to US neither to EU as they were reallocated in a different CITES situation. They will not be allowed to enter here till that situation change, and so, only will be exportable again from that point on. If you have New information, please, let me know. Best regards.

That's why Mark says just above: "It could be importable in the future..." Safari2: That is really excellent news about 250 buffalo headed to C9!
|
One of Us |
Yes, but what is the relation of that with this specific hunt offered? That was the point not clear. Why you need to say that if this specific lion will remain unexportable?? If that is the case that sentence is not adding any important info to the offer but just confusing some of us. Best regards
|
Administrator |
Well, if I understand it correctly, anyone from other part of the world CAN import the trophy. Only US clients cannot at this time!!
|
One of Us |
No, you did not understand well Saeed. I said EU neither. Maybe exportable to Emirates, that I dont know, maybe you can check it. Best regards

This is the second time in a few days that a great opportunity has been derailed. Any normal person reading the ad can see it is for a fully exportable hunt period. Mark is trying to say if the ban is ever lifted, there might be a chance to import it. You should be asking the EU or USFWS what their decision will be instead of derailing this thread.
|
One of Us |
Very good. Nothing else to be said or asked my side about this. I am the derailing Man, just entering here to ask things out of the point. I am making my life derailing offers, or maybe I am bored at home. You got me. I must surrender. I will go and ask CITES authorities AGAIN If the lions or ele banned for export now will be exportable later. From now on I will not ask or try to clarify something never again. I though we were in an open forum to share, but clearly I was wrong. Thanks to God you save me. Thank you very much sir. Best regards.

Common MD, nobody is derailing anything on here Legitimate questions are being asked and answered and the fact is, we the hunters have to ask all these question as we wanna know every detail before we spend our hard earned money
|
Administrator |
Actually, this lion is not exportable to either the US or EU, it seems. And any suggestions that the ban MIGHT be lifted in the future, then I suspect that will only apply to lions shot after the ban has been lifted. If anyone knows something else, please enlighten us. But, as Mark has said, there are lot of hunters who live outside the US and the EU. Many -from the far east do a lot of hunting too, and they are unaffected by this silly Western ban.
|

Agree the Ban is stupid and is really hurting the industry and the conservation itself of those animals. Agree also there will be countries in which you can import the trophy and for that lucky hunters that is a heck of a deal in a great place and with a great outfitter.

. Well, almost. They have the pens ready and everything is fine on their end but the gov. guy, Game Warden has not signed the permit. He has not had it but about two years but said he was not notified. Mokore will get 150 . I’m hunting there now and hope the shipping is do while I’m here.

Looking forward to your report. Does the other 100 buffalo go to Western Safaris? Or has the order been reduced from 250 to 150? Thanks again and good luck in C9.

The buf are here, was able to watch them unload. Unfortunately, the gov. Official decided only 100 would be sent, 50 for Mokore and 50 for next door. Tremendous experience, when I get back I’ll do a report.this was hunter’s dollars going into conservation.
