Instead of shopping and sightseeing join me for a wingshoot. Currently there are plenty of Rock Pigeons and Doves and lots of hot barrel action.

This is a great day in the field with Leslie!! I did this on my last trip after arriving in Capetown by ship, hunting East Cape, then two nights at AFTON HOUSE, to reorganize for a road trip to the TIMBAVATI PRIVATE RESERVE, next to Kruger Park for 4 days of game viewing.
Leslie picked me up at AFTON HOUSE and we drove about an hour out of JNB to the expansive and lush farming country to the south east where he had access to huge farms of standing corn and sunflowers to hunt.
I experienced hot barrel shooting all day and Leslie is a great spotter and coach, and his pointers were great retrievers!!
We broke for a rest and lunch where Leslie had prepared some of our harvest for grilling on the charcoal, and accompanied by some great finger food snacks and salads for a great lunch under a huge shade tree.
A very delightful wingshooting safari... and we brought back a nice bag of birds for the staff at AFTON HOUSE.
Everybody was pleased.... Leslie provides the shotguns, ammo, transport, dogs, great access and guiding, and a great lunch to boot!! He is fun, and very knowledgeable and experienced about all species of game in the region. He also offers driven Warthog hunts from JNB as well!!
I will be doing this again on my next hunt to Africa, this year or next. You will enjoy this experience.

Trust me, I will do this on every visit to JNB I make!! Stay at Afton House and he picks you up there for a day hunt. Coming back he leaves your bag with the staff...and you are A HERO!! I am sure they would prepare some for you next day, too!!

A great way to get over the jet lag on arrival, or a last outing before departure!! You won't be disappointed!! Great Guy and Great Dogs!!
