After the antis succeed in closing the farm bred lions hunts, they will start on all the put and take farms that offer plains game hunts.

When they succeed in closing that, they will concentrate all their efforts in banning hunting.

ALL hunting.

+1 I think you're 100% spot on. South Africa is trying to uplist Kudu , blue wildebeest, blesbuck, Gemsbuck and Nyala onto the new TOPS permiting regiment. This will be a serious ball ache for all those in the SA hunting industry . The idiots can't even keep up with the current TOPS application

I have hunted numerous times along Greater Kruger & Kruger and will tell you with out a doubt that the fences that are along there do not hold back the game like you are led to believe. The lion, ele, buff & leopards and game will go under, over and thru the fences as they see the need. Those lions can be on SA side one day and Moz area weeks later. Some silly big cats to boot. Can leopard be added to the lion hunt on Trophy Fee basis ?

Is the Selati similar to the Thorne Bush Reserve?

Is the Selati completely high fenced or is it open on one side to Krueger?

Selati is similar to Thorny bush no open border with Kruger Park.Outfitter have 2 concessions with low fencing adjoining Kruger Park. The fences are not in the position to stop the game coming through.

what is the dog for that appears suddenly about 1 second after the lion is shot under the bush about a minute into the video and at about 1:09 into the video when the buffalo is shot??? you hunt "wild" dangerous game with a dog at your side at spitting distance?? gotta say, that's a bit unusual..

I may well be mistaken, but judging from the shadows and height of the nearest brush, it would appear the shots were fired from the back of a vehicle ..... again, I might just be wrong .. coffee

Did you think of the fact that the cameraman is at a higher point. It is an insult to think these people hunt from a vehicle. They are not meat hunters and well respected amongst the hunting community.

In this particular "hunt" all 3 shooters are on board a vehicle; the evidence to the trained eye is overwhelming - you are however entitled to think what you like.

Theo,

I have not seen the video.

But, you may wish to bear in mind that many of us don't care how anyone else hunts, but please tell it as it is.

I hunted in South Africa, and I have shot game animals from the back of the truck, and I make absolutely no bones about it.

I believe when in Rome, do as the Roman's do.

If anyone does not agree with this, it is up to them to hunt the w ay they wish.

maybe I phrased it wrongly. All I want to say is that they dont hunt from the back off a vehicle it is not their policy.maybe that hunt was done for the purpose of the video. You are right the right hunt for the right person.I believe that impairment plays a role and special actions can apply to accommodate.Where are the hunters with the positive comments? Come on hunters this an excellent forum.

SAC:

I don't give a flying fiddle if the shots were taken from the back of a truck, chopper or tree stand!... different strokes for different folks!

Your post on the San Souci Ranch Kalahari Lion offer spells a different hunting style: "Walk and stalk method to be used" which for "put and take" lions I suppose is fair enough if "acclimatisation periods" are respected for the "hunt" to fall into the fair chase category.

I suppose an alternative and more appropriate method is adopted in the Selati Reserve.

As Saeed mentioned: "When in Rome ...." Big Grin

These are all privately owned hunting farms there must be fences somewhere some high and some low.30 000 hectares you will use vehicles to a certain point the the fun starts tracking with your trackers and PH.Through the dense vegetation typical From that area. These animals roam freely and you can expect any animal any time.So when you hunt sable or whatever once it is spotted you will walk and stalk. You are welcome to your own opinion it is your prerogative. killpc

Basically some some small fenced areas abutting the so called Kruger.

I was never really sure what the purpose is of a low fence?

Yes I agree but will you fix a low fence adjacent to KP if your farm is next to it.any case ele and buff does not respect a low fence.

Why not just pull them up? A low fence in a big game area is pointless.

Is there a specific male that will be targeted during this hunt or are they waiting for one to cross the low fence from the Timbavati?

If there is a specific one can you post a photo so we can see what quality we could expect for that price?

a good quality high fence lion sells for over $30k so just curios how young this cat is as a wild lion should be over 6 years old and at a higher price than that?

Sandringham Reserve boarders the Timbavati and has a High fence that is electrified and has a trip wire on the Timbavati side to keep our cats in the reserve, we have tried over the past year to get the owners of Sandringham to drop the fences but no luck so far, maybe one day, I have seen some big cats on there side of the fence, but in the end of the day it is a game farm not a game reserve,
