This conservancy hunting operation is primarily native owned but managed and operated by other individuals, one being a licensed Namibian PH. The general area is in northwestern Namibia and includes 5 different conservancies with a land area total of over 12 million hectares. The hunting is conducted for the direct benefit of the indigenous population. There are no fences, just truly wild desert country where one may see free ranging elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, cheetah, hippo and croc. There are two types of hunting conducted within the conservancies, trophy and for lack of a better word, "premium". In premium hunting, no part of the animal can be exported. All of the animal is utilized by the indeginous population. Additional animals may be taken for reduced fees, if declared a "premium" or as a trophy for export. There, you can take truly WORLD CLASS springbok and oryx. 17-20" springbok and 40" plus oryx are common due to the limited hunting in previous years. Pricing: U.S.D. $7,550 1 x 1 , $6,675 2 x 1, Trophy hunt includes: All accomodations in deluxe tented safari camp, 2 springbok, 1 oryx, 1 Hartman's zebra, 1 steenbok. Charter flight from Orupembe back to Windhoek. If less than 4 people on flight, there will be a surcharge. Premium hunt: 1 x 1 $6,900, 2 x 1 $6,025 includes: All accomodations, 4 springbok, 2 oryx, 1 Hartman's zebra, 1 ostrich, chartered flight from Orupembe to Windhoek. Surcharge applies for less than 4 people on flight. Excluded: all processing of trophies, dipping and shipping. Additional trophies may be taken for the following fees: springbok $600, oryx $800, zebra $1,000, Steenbok $350. Additional premium animals (non-exportable): springbok $300, oryx $350 zebra $500, ostrich $300. Kudu, while not abundant, may be taken for a trophy fee to be declared later. Leopard, croc, and hippo are available on a limited basis. Quotas must be reaffirmed and trophy fee prices will be declared. Yes, occasionally there are PAC animals that will be offered. Usually on a last minute basis. A mutual friend of the PH and I recently took a young male lion that was eating cattle and donkeys around the Puros village. It was good sized, 180 kg., but the mane was rather short. The skull measured green 1 pt. short of NAPHA silver. Occasionally, desert elephant become a problem. Since there is a direct financial benefit to the indigenous population, there is a possibility that the PAC animal can be declared exportable by MET, if there is enough time to arrange as such.
