Guys - I am thinking of going back to the CAR for another Giant Eland in 2013. I took my last one in April 2011, and it was without a doubt - one of the best safaris I have ever been on. This return trip will be with the same operator - Central African Wildlife Adventures (CAWA). CAWA is offering some excellent deals this year, and I'm looking to take advantage of it.

If any of you might be interested in joining me, or know someone that might, please let me know? I am considering option 1 myself, but you can see that numerous options are available - if a trip to CAR is on your agenda. CAWA has tremendous Eland/Bongo/Buffalo hunting, its also a great place for GFH, and the numerous duikers - including the yellow back.

Option 1:
Jan 31 - Feb 13
Feb 28 – March 13
These are some of the best dates to hunt black maned 50 + “ eland.

Price: 19,500 Euro (normal price 30,600 Euro)

Includes shot opportunity guarantee on 1 precious game of the hunters choice. Possibility to choose between Eland, Leopard or Giant forest hog. Full list of secondary species included.

Price includes all facilities (as per usual with CAWA), apart from: trophy fees, export of trophies from CAR – Hunter, int. airfares, visas, insurance, and tips.

Option 2:
Jan 24 – Feb 13
April 4-24

Really good openings to collect two precious game from CAR - includes full secondary list of savannah and forest species.

Price: 28,500 Euro (normal price 40,800 Euro)

Including shot opportunity on 2 precious game of the hunters choice. Possibility to choose between Eland, Bongo, Leopard and Giant forest hog. Full list of secondary species included.

Price includes all facilities (as per usual with CAWA), apart from: trophy fees, export of trophies from CAR – Hunter, int. airfares, visas, insurance, and tips.

Option 3:
Jan 24 – 30
Jan 31- Feb 6
Feb 28 – March 6

One week openings, no shot opportunity guarantee on these safaris but they have usually been very succesful in previous years. A hunter in good physical shape should take 3-5 species of game.

Price: 12,500 Euro

Including hunting opportunity on 1 precious game of the hunters choice.

RT Air-charter & hunting license are also included in the listed hunt prices!

Trophy fees - Include a 10% development tax, as well as a tax on ammunition fired in CAR. Because the CAR government establishes the trophy fees, they are subject to change without notice. The trophy fees are to be paid at the end of the safari, either in cash directly to CAWA, or by invoice.

Folks - Sorry if I did not make it clear, as I received a PM regarding the charter flights, etc.

The hunt prices listed here INCLUDE the RT air-charter fees too! Normally a 4,000.00 euro additional charge.

Whether it is included or not, the price of the charter is still 4,000 EURO (5,188 USD) - being equivalent to 3 x RT flights DAR/ZRH (coach/economy) with ample change left over. hammering

Damn! Those crooked charter companies are all over Africa not just Tanzania!

Aaron:

Sounds interesting. I assume buffalo are not "precious game"? An eland/buffalo hunt is most intriguing.

Aaron:

Indeed and I did say so.

The value/price/cost of the charter however did not experience any reduction as did the hunts Big Grin

I have heard of "rare game" but not "precious game" - gemstones yes but not game.

where is ZRH??could have been worse though-like $9000-$15000 as seen on other charter costs added to SCI hunt donations. and yes- $15,000 was the charter cost of a donation from last year or the year before. quit while you are behind, mate... this actually seems like a great deal- wish i had the time/money Mad

Aaron,

Great opportunity and I wish I could do it myself. I NEED a GFH badly. You gotta add the trophy fees though. Them's the rules.

See my hunt report in my siganture. This is a super hunt, very tough, very fun and very challenging. By the way, my son and I took 2 LDE, 2 Giant forest hogs, 2 red flank duikers, 1 yellow back duiker, multiple baboons, harnessed bushbuck, gray duiker. Missed on Lewells' Hartebeast, outsmarted by the buff, heard leopards every day....

Go, be expect odd and unusual...

You should make a collect call to Aaron in the mountains of Pakistan and tell him to whip out his ipad and fix it.
