NORTH CAMEROON SPECIAL

14 day hunt/fishing in northern Cameroon
Hunt is if for two people and for a total of $10,000 ($5,000@) or single hunter at $7000
This hunt takes place in the personal hunting estate of the Lamido of Rey Bouba. It is a self-guided hunt, but in an “easy” area to hunt with good accommodations and fishing.
Pictured here is the Lamido or king of northern Cameroon. If he is at his palace he will grant clients an audience. His still has a feudal kingship replete with mud wall castle and knights in mail armor.

Camp is comfortable with thatch bungalows, beds, running water, showers, flush toilets, solar lighting and telephone coverage. You stay in the most comfortable camp we operate next to a nice river with good fishing. There is a regular kitchen with dining room to eat at. Solar power provides light and necessities. Beds are supplied with mosquito nets. It is generally a hot hunt. You go out daily from camp walking or in a vehicle and return at dark after following tracks, sitting by water or overlooking salt licks.

Camp is situated on a nice river with good fishing for Nile perch and tiger fish, as well as a number of tropical unknowns.
10 day fishing only trips are available for $2500 @ for a 2 person minimum ($5000 total). Bring a rod, lots of lures and wire leader.

Zone 10 has all of the following animals:

Trophy fees for Cameroun Hunt
Cameroon laws are complex, so read carefully.

Animal $ cost Animal $ cost
Roan * $2,000 Grimm and Red Flanked $400
Waterbuck $900 Western Cob $500
Hartebeest $500 Oribi $400
Bushbuck $500 Reedbuck $500
Red River Hog/Warthog $300
We have found some eland and buffalo, but they are not prevalent. You can shoot them if you find them, but I am not selling this as a buffalo or eland hunt. I have other areas for these species, but the price is considerably higher.
Savannah Buffalo * $2,500
Lord Derby Eland * $4,000

*Denotes group 1 animal, of which you are only allowed 2. Four other animals are allowed per hunter/year (Group 2) Six maximum animals, if you shoot a roan and a buffalo or eland. Only males may be shot. If you do not shoot a Group 2 animal you may shoot only 4 species total.
Wounded animals are charged at full rate. Females are charged at double (2X) rates. If you do shoot 5 or 6 animals you get charged for 2 CITES permits. (Cameroun laws)
BEFORE YOU LEAVE:
• You get a complete list of what to bring and what is provided, down to your toothbrush.
• I will work with you ahead of the hunt to get your gun import paperwork, visa and hunting license in Cameroon completed.
• You apply and pay for visa and gun import with my help. You need to start 3 months ahead of time to assure hunt permit. I send copies of your visa and gun import you provide me to Cameroon at least 2 months ahead of the hunt so your Cameroon hunting permit is ready on arrival.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE:
• I have a crew in country that picks you up at the airport, Yaoundé (NSI airline code). One of my staff is with you the whole trip. My staff is used to handling English and French speaking clients, but French is their primary language.
• You typically spend the first and last nights at a hotel or my apartment. Your cost.
• I arrange local transportation, which includes trains, my vehicles and/or a hired car to take you to the camp. Train ride is overnight. You will be on foot the most of the time, as game is prevalent near the hunting camp. A vehicle can transport you out and help in game retrieval, but the hunting is on foot. In-country transport is included in your fee.
• You are responsible for all of your own personal gear. Guns can be rented; .375H&H.
• All your in-country food is purchased for you along with provisions for the staff. I pay for these. I recommend you bring some freeze-dried food and snacks, but basic food is provided.
• I arrange to have someone to boil water (not to be confused with a real cook) for you, trackers and porters. You will have a staff of 3-4 personnel as well as maid service for clothes washing. There is a gas stove and gas refrigerator.
• There are experienced skinners assigned to you, but you are still responsible for the oversight of the skinning. Bring antibacterial (eg. Dettol Antiseptic from Amazon.com) and tags for your trophies. Zip tie them to your trophies with your taxidermist listed before you leave.

AT THE END OF THE TRIP:
• I will arrange to have paperwork completed at the end of the trip so trophies can be exported. This includes all CITES and veterinary paperwork for export. I arrange for air shipping (Swiss Air is the only carrier operating out of Cameroon.) I charge $2000 for all the export work. This includes a $500 credit on shipping fees.

Hi - would be a dream to do this hunt, however I'm booked for the rest of this year and likely 2013.
Will you have the same hunt available for 2014 - or is that too far in the future ?

Like everyone else hunters are hard to come by this year so we are all scrambling. This hunt just keeps my staff of anti-poaching with something to do, as we have to keep them on board if there are hunters or not.
I will agree to hold a spot for you and a partner next year if we can get a deposit now.

Cam,
I have read this a couple of times, i did not see what months you are selling this for.

Are there leopard and lion in the hunting area? Not lookingto hunt them, just changes the dynamics.

Brent
I did an anti-poaching trip to this area(zone 10) through Cam. The trip included some hunting.

I believe the hunting season runs mid-December through late May. I may be off a bit....

BTW, cam is underselling the hunting/fishing potential of the area. Game is thick and the fishing is unbelievable. This is a can't miss hunt.

I will be doing anti-poaching in December and I would be willing to assist anyone who is going into this area. It may be the one of the last true adventures left in Africa.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Sorry to miss your question Brent. Hunting season runs December to end of May. I prefer you come later, as my property has the only water around and the game concentrate until April when it starts to rain again. Be warned End March and April are good but very hot.

Daytime hot over 100 and you will drag your bed outside to sleep at night although yo crawl under the covers before dawn.
I have several marshy areas that pull in the game and curiously they are most active at mid-day.

I have just signed on a RSA young assistant PH. He will spend a month with Jason who did the anti-poaching last year and then stay on for the rest of the season. There will be no charge for this and yet it should help out those who feel they are being thrown out on their own on this "self guided" safari. It is actually the most plush hunt I have with omelets for breakfast and cold drinks from a frig on return. Now with an English speaking person in camp it will be even easier and get you ready for a fly camp self guided in the future.

I've been eyeing up your chasse libre hunts for quite sometime and am wondering if this is would be a similar price for the 2014 season? How many animals would two hunters expect to shoot between them? 4 or 5?

Each hunter can shoot 5 and you will probably expect to shoot 3-4 different species. If you shoot a roan you can take 5 animals. There are decent numbers of roan in the zone. (The whole group 1& 2 issue)
If I get a deposit now I will hold it for 2014 at this price. I will sell these hunts at Reno and expect them to sell out.

I have a couple of friends that would possibly be interested in joining me so I will discuss it with them. For the last part of march if it is going to be a 14 day trip. How many of those days are spent in camp?

I leave 2 days for travel on each end, especially the return trip I hate to cut close. You should have a full 10 days of hunting.
Last part of March is good.

What would two or three species that would be "normal" to take on this hunt? I'm happy shooting the little antelopes but my friends will probably be a bit reluctant if the bigger game isn't to be seen.

I would expect that in 10 days you will have 1-2 chances at roan, 10+ chances of Sing Sing waterbuck, 5-6 chances at bushbuck. Kob daily. warthogs 5-6 times, for the smaller guys you will see some of them every day.
I have never had a hunter not have a chance at something every day.
Part of it is where you hunt, as the roan are mountain top while bushbuck cling to the thick brush along the river. These guys will not let you sit and watch them forever, but there is plenty of game.

I would rather you come in 2013, if possible, the camp is underutilized and when I left in April we had a lot of game.
