Kelly Vrem/Rough and Ready Guide Service that operates in the Wrangells has 1 moose left for '19. Anybody that's hunted Kelly's area knows the genetics in the Wrangells for moose are very good. All my clients there have had an opportunity to take a big bull. Expectations with a little patience should be for a bull in the high 50"-70"+ and a good chance for a B&C moose.

The area is very remote and only accessible via horseback. You drive to Chitina where Kelly will meet you and fly you to base camp. From there you will spike out via horseback for 1.5-4 hours. There is NO resident pressure.

Dates Aug 21-29,'19. This is the season opener. At this time the moose will be in the Alpine and quite visible allowing for a spot and stalk situation. Success is essentially the same pre rut or in the rut later in Sept. This early hunt is the one you want to be on if you want to take some meat home along with a huge rack of horns.

Grizzly should be on the berries at that time above the timber and also quite visible. Of course killing a moose early on in the hunt gives you the added attractant of the gut pile.
