Is this females only or are non trophy males also included in the cull? How large a property would one be hunting?

Hi Tom

It is primary females but the odd male will also be taken. These are usually males with broken horns.

The farm is devided in two. The one side is 1052ha and the other is 1340ha.

We also cater for bowhunters should it be a requirement.

Regards
Bossie

Sir:

I'm not in any way trying to cause problems for your excellent offer, but I noticed in the new "tipping" thread above that you allocate or expect a tip of about $130 per animal. For 5 zebras that's not excessive, but shoot or add in 20 impalas @ $110 each and it becomes somewhat over the top to me. What is your position on this on these cull hunts?

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

There is a thread on tipping, and someone mentioned that he was told it is normal to allocate a specific amount for every animal shot.

It does not mean that you have specifically mentioned it.

You means ME, I not someone else.

My sincere apologies. I was mistaken, it was Caracal who used the $130/animal tipping figure, not you.

I was wrong, and should have double checked my memory before posting. Again, my apologies.

Your apology has been accepted, thank you for clearing the air Sir.
We all make mistakes from time to time but it takes a man to admit his mistake. Thanks for being that man.

It takes a real gentleman to acknowledge an oversight. Good for you Gato for clearing the air quickly.

LBGS - These per animal fees are quite tempting.
Could you enlighten us on what you would consider a suitable tip for this hunt? A good portion of my reluctance to make a hunting trip to Africa (in addition to the long long flight) has been (in many cases) overwhelming fees such as tips, transportation between concessions, etc. Keep in mind that I have no intentions of having any animals mounted or any portions thereof transported. For me it would be all about the hunting and the Africa experience.

Now lets see Confused Confused I have always wanted a double rifle in a 470Nitro....LOL....just a joke

When I am being asked about tips in camp I always get this uncomfortable feeling in me.

In my experience as an Outfitter I have seen that gifts are more appreciated than cash.
I have received a fair amount of gifts such as, Binoculars, Telescopes, Ammunition,Range finder, Cell phone, pocket knifes and flash lights.
These are all items that I see and use every day. Yes they can be expensive but I assure you that it cost double this side of the pond.
I have also advised some of my clients (who asked) to rather buy small pocket knives for the tracker and skinner than tipping them a bunch of cash that they will piss out over the weekend.

When I use or look at the gifts I received I always remember who gave it to me and when. Cash is something that goes from one hand to another and is quickly forgotten. If I was asked how much I was given by someone I would not be able to tell, but I assure you that I know every gift and where it came from.

Yes I have received cash as a tip, some more and some less,( all equally appreciated) that usually went towards something for the house or my family.

So to answer your question, I think any type of gift that you could hand to your PH, Tracker and Skinner will be more appreciated and remembered than a bunch of cash. I have had a long discussion with new staff in camp that had this impression that a tip is something that was expected and something they deserved. I have made it very clear that a tip is a gift and not something you can or should demand.

In my camp, tipping is totally up to the clients discretion and not something I expect.

Staff in my camp know that the only thing they should expect is their salary at the end of the month.

Kind Regards
Bossie Mostert
