I normally don't comment on outfitters hunts, but this sounds nuts.

1000 euros to shoot a jackal?

Dina, in africa they are free!

They may be free in Africa, but I bet it is not the Golden Jackel. The Golden Jackal (Canis aureus) is the heaviest of the jackals, and the only species to subsist outside of Africa. Although often grouped with the other jackals, genetic and morphological research indicates that the golden jackal is more closely related to the gray wolf and the coyote.

Evidently you can take as many as you are capable of shooting.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Are there other species that can be hunted during the day in the same area? Birds or other big game that can be combined on the trip?

During the day we can hunt ducks and geese. In this area there are very large specimens of wild boar. Unfortunately, due to very high number of jackals, only single males lives, females and small wild boars are not happy with the proximity of jackals.

For your information I have to pay minimum 50 euros to romanian state for each day, for every foreign hunter. The fee that I pay for every jackal to romanian state is around 100 euros. Each hunter will shoot at least three jackals. Plus accommodation, bait, transportation and meals. You do the calculations....

Then don't.

There are plenty of folks that offer paid predator hunts in Texas too, and no, I am not one of them. A lot of folks don't have places to call or the time to line them up. There are also some outfitters that charge for jackals in Africa.

This is a good price for this hunt. I would love to be able to come over there and call some someday. They are larger than their African cousins and resemble our coyotes.

Good Hunting,

Bob

They seem to be the same species as the Indian Jackal. Yes they are slightly smaller than a Coyote. They are a very clever and capable predator. They are known to hunt and kill domestic stock like goats & sheep as well as chicken. They also hunt in pairs during the Black Buck fawning season (similar to their African cousin hunting PG calves).

They howl at night and start a relay chorus of 10 to 30 animals in a 5 mile radius (possibly spreading out even further??!)

They are a real menace to chicken coups. When I was a tea Planter in India in the early 1980s, I was loosing chicken from my bungalow on a regular basis one spring. My staff told me that it was a jackal and that it was getting really bold and taking birds during the day. One afternoon at lunch break I was home and my gardener said that he saw a jackal among the tea bushes about 100 meters from the bungalow. It is impossible to hunt anything among tea bushes as they are too dense and visibility is less than 5 feet. So I told him to hide behind a tree near the property fence and keep a look out as the chicken were out free ranging. About ten minutes later he called to the cook to tell me that the jackal was near the garden fence. I loaded my shotgun with #2 shot and walked about 10 meters behind the gardener on a terrace in the back yard (the bungalow is on top of a sloping hill). He then pointed to the side and I was anticipating the jackal to walk into the lower terrace about 10 meters away. As I looked intently the jackal was stalking slowly out of a bush & I shouldered the shotgun. He saw me & started to turn when I shot him in the neck & shoulder at a range of 10 yards. Very exciting to out wit a jackal in the day time by stalking it.
