Price $7500.00 Species Sable Bull Date 01/07/12 can be hunted ASAP Location Ranch in Blanco Texas 1 hour north of San Antonio. I can pick up hunter at SA international Airport. I Clay Pope PO Box 159 Utopia Texas owner of Pope Brothers Guide Service & Outfitting will be your guide of PH. My cell number is 956-763-3232 www.pbgso.com www.huntsintexas.com This bull is on a ranch in Blanco Texas. He was not darted him he was caught in a pen trap so he was not measured. We estimate him in the 36-37 inch range but this is just an estimate. I do have pictures. He is a very nice mature bull at avery discounted price. There is nothing wrong with him. He was purchased then the purchaser could not come up with the money. The trapper took one month to catch him and 3 days to load him in a trailer to move him. This is the reason for the discounted price and this will not last. I can send pictures or direct you to pictures if you call me or I will try to post them on here.

You are being rather generic by just branding him as "Sable" - could you be more specific ie. Common or Roosevelt ?

Fulvio why you ask this...The hunter will safe the expensive airfare to Africa any way. Nec Timor Nec Temeritas

MBB: Nothing to do with the airfare. Ja, I ask because it is related to the rarity between the one species and the other which, if it is a Roosevelt Sable, should command a higher price

other than rarity in the wild, what is the difference between the 2?? Vote Trump- Putin’s best friend… To quote a former AND CURRENT Trumpiteer - DUMP TRUMP

JDollar: "Roosevelt Sable" - Hippotragus niger roosevelti and the "Common or East African Sable" -Hippotragus niger niger classifying them as 2 distinct species which were also confirmed by DNA testing. The Roosevelt's presence is limited to pockets of the East African coastal belt from southern Kenya to southern Tanzania, 200 miles inland approx. The Roosevelt is also a smaller bodied animal whose horns rarely exceed 40 inches. Quote from Boddington: "Tanzania has another sable, a bit smaller, often with reddish highlights in its coat. This is H. n. roosevelti, named in honor of Theodore Roosevelt. Though they were once believed to exist only in Kenya’s Shimba Hills, recent DNA testing has proven that the sable of southeastern Tanzania are in fact Roosevelt’s"

If he is behind high fence, he doesn't count anyway, so what difference does it make? "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

Got nothing to do with it being fenced or whether it counts or not - confirmation of the species will confirm its status as rare or not and command a higher price - mind you, $7,500 is quite cheap when you consider some nutcase of a rancher forked out something to the tune of $350,000 for a breeding specimen - go figure

I find myself agreeing with fujotupu yet again. However, in this particular case, I think it would be more appropriate to differenciate between "Fred" and "Bob" as opposed to Roosevelt and common.

I viewed this outfitters website and sent a PM last week about possibilities of pig hunting and have heard exactly squat in return. I have a large group of hunters that are "heavy-hitters" here on AR. Heck I can't even get a courtesy," bugger off" out of him. Makes me wonder what kind of operation he is running? Anybody ever heard of or hunted with this fellow? We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

Now, let's not distort things drewhenrytnt. You have hunted with him yourself, twice that I know of. You created "issues and problems" on one hunt with him and also created a big blow up about one of his hunts you were not even on. I would delete your post and I will then delete this one. You on your first hunt with Clay. You on your second hunt with Clay. There is room for all of God's creatures....right next to the mashed potatoes. http://texaspredatorposse.ipbhost.com/

If I received a PM I am sorry but I have not seen that as of yet. This time of year we are hunting somewhere every day, and I apologize if we were unable to return phone calls as my lead guide who also handles booking guiding etc... had his grandmother,an uncle, and a great uncle die within a 2 week period and it really put a strain on my work load. I have had quite a few guys hunt with me who are members of this forum. One in particular came out and shot a 32 inch free range aoudad, a nice free range Texas Ibex, a free range axis buck, and a couple of axis does in a single hunt. I thought that was a pretty good bag for a free range hunt. I have had several hog hunters from this site as well. The Sable was sold shortly after the post that was one heck of a deal on that animal. We sold him live to another ranch. If you have ever been that close to a Sable bull wow they are one of the meanest horned animals out there. Clay Pope

Again for the record, Issues arising on the hunt in question were created by you obobmacat! You are a representative of the Texas Predator Posse, be careful what you accuse me of being responsible for. While I was not privy to the contract you had between the ranch, the outfitter and the Posse, there are a few things that come to mind. I would expect the parties involved in creation of said contract would be the outfitter, the ranch manager and whomever represents the posse. Any other party be they family or friend has no legal bearing on the contract or on the execution thereof. It is not my fault you chose to go against your own contract because you felt intimidated by a third party. Furthermore the discussion of this blowup has been deleted on the posse website. Seems you have something to hide! We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

Andy, first you deny hunting with Pope Brothers and then you say it wasn't you that created the problem on the first hunt you were on. From the board: This was the first hunt you were on: Posted 22 April 2009 - 05:18 AM Y'all have been asking for another Axis deer meat hunt, so here we go! We will be hunting with Posse member Clay Pope and Pope Brothers Guide Service in the Texas Hill Country. The ranch is off I-10 about half way between Kerrville and Junction. The hunt will be from noon Friday, May 15th, 2009, until noon Sunday, May 17th, 2009. The cost of this hunt is $400. It includes 1 Axis doe, our lodging on the ranch, field dressing & quartering of the game (caping for $25 per axis is available) and unlimited hogs. We will be able to hunt hogs at night too!! You may take as many additional Axis does as you wish at $200 each. You may also take a trophy Axis buck with no limit on size for $1250. There are no daily fees. We will do our own cooking as usual. We can take 8 Posse members on this hunt. The first 8 members to go to the sign-up thread, register, and send me their $200 deposit are going to be eating Axis!!! The second hunt you were on with Pope Brothers: Posted 02 June 2009 - 07:38 AM Please only post on this thread to confirm that you are coming and have mailed your deposit. We can talk about the hunt and answer any questions about the hunt in the "11th Posse Hog Hunt" thread. The first 6 members to sign up are going hog hunting!! You need to mail me your $150 non-refundable deposit as soon as possible or your spot will have to be given to someone else. Make your check or money order (with your Posse user name on it) payable to: Pope Brothers Guide Service. You made your checks payable to Pope Brothers Guide Service for both hunts. Now you come on AR claiming to have never heard of Pope Brothers. All you had to do was correct or delete your post and I would have done the same. Your words thanking Clay: Posted 28 June 2009 - 07:17 PM I got home about 1:30. Finished cutting up and packaging pigs after unloading my truck by about 6:30. This was a fantastic outing! The property alone is breathtaking. Breakfast....well I try! Thankyou Bob, Clay, Micah, Jeremy, Gordon Ranch and all the rest behind the scenes that made this hunt possible. Even if I didn't see SUS SCROFA again, I would love to hunt with the Posse on this property again. This being a "Predator" hunt I decided to use a type of ammo labeled "The Predator" by the company that makes it, RBCD, and thus the box in the picture with the pig. Entry hole only, pigs devastated! Distance was only 60yds, but the spotted one was a bang-flop! Blackie ran about 50 yds and piled up. Maybe Micah will chime in and tell ya'll what he observed with these Predator-shot pigs that he has never seen before after having cleaned thousands of pigs. Micah and Jeremy will be receiving a box each of RBCD 30-06(I am having it shipped) to try for themselves and will hopefully provide us with some gory details I am looking forward to the next hunt I am able to share with my friends. Andy Babin aka South Texas Sasquatch/Foghorn Andy-You did go on both of these hunts. You knew full well Clay was the outfitter. This should set the record straight. Again, never denied Clay as the outfitter. I denied having met the man or hunted with him. I have had some interesting conversations with Clay over the phone, but I have never hunted with him personally. Notice, the incident obobma refers to as caused by me he refuses to speak of because I will drop the reigns and let the horses run and then it will all be over! There was a moderator from this website on the hunt I am being accused of causing issues. There are also at least 4-5 other well known AR characters on that hunt. In no way shape or form am I the one backing myself into a corner. obobma...be very careful what you put into writing. I will consider it libel and pursue it accordingly! I have written nothing but the truth and a couple opinions that are protected by my 1st amendment rights to free speech. I have never denied knowing of Clay Pope, or his outfit. I did ask if anybody else had dealings with him or his outfit. We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

I will put my 2 cents in this. I own a hunting consulting agency and have booked hunts for Clay Pope d.b.a. Pope Brothers Guide Service and Outfitting for over 8 years now and sent him 100's of hunters over those years and I wish I had 100 more outfitters just like him. This guy is as honest as the day is long and works extremely hard and does everything in his human powers to make sure every hunter he hosts has an enjoyable experience. Not going to say every hunter kills their animal because it is hunting and he has a good bit of free range hunting as well as high fenced but you will not find a more up right outfitter out there period. On top of all that he is just a all around good guy. sjadventures@cableone.net

You know when I come on here and see all the bullshit going on all the time it reminds me of watching gay couples involved in a domestic dispute in the west end of Vancouver. Doesn't matter what thread gets started it devolves into some sort of pissing contest. Must be something in the water you people are drinking. The world looks great from my perspective, because I know the truth about what happened. So does a moderator on another forum and several other members that will remain nameless. We all know what happened. Some individuals are still in denial. Sucks to be them! I was even accused of carefully orchestrating the loss of membership of a certain hunt club. The fact of the business is the truth got out and those members were pissed. They are still my friends and I hunt with several of them. The truth hurts and many can't take it. Thats what happens when you talk shit. Eventually it catches up with you. Andy We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club
