For those hunters looking for a fairly easy elk on private property. This might be the hunt for you.

Bull Elk (2x1) $7,500, (1x1) $8,000.
Cow elk $ 2,500 - this would be a good add on for a youngster accompanying a parent who just wants the pleasure of hunting.

Meat processing – aprx.$300 per elk charged by a local butcher to process your elk. They can also quarter it up on the ranch for you.

It is a fairly easy hunt conducted on the outfitter's own and other neighbouring private ranches where the outfitter has exclusive hunting rights for his clients. The lodge is very comfortable and can accomodate upto 6 hunters. Elevation is around 7000 feet, but easy country. You drive and spot and stalk. Average shooting distance 200 yards. Bulls taken are typically in the 275-300 range category with bigger ones taken each year. You will see lots of elk, as they have a resident population as well as a migration coming through. Everyone will see elk but the true success rate is around 75%, these are not farmed elk in a high fence setting.

Hunters fly into Albuquerque, NM on commercial airlines, if by private plane then into Pagosa springs. Typical program, arrive on a Friday afternoon, start hunting on Saturday and depart on Thursday morning.

You can also combine your elk hunt with Mule deer for $10,750 (all inclusive as above). They only shoot 4 deer per year in the 175-200 class. Mule deer on its own is $6,500, same program as above.
