I'm going to be operating several trips this January. Trip cost is $5000 Great trip for to bring a buddy on, cause no one is gonna believe you when you go home and tell of the adventure! This is alaska like few ever get to see it. I operate out of a remote lodge with all the comforts of home, showers, cook, internet, sat tv, HEAT, private rooms and a view that just won't quit! Snowmachines and fuel are provided for the trip. Head out each day and run one of several lines, returning in the middle of the day to sit around the wood burning stove and sip some coffee and tell stories. head back out later in the day to run more traps, hunt for wolves, wolverine, fox, coyote and lynx! We also have willow ptarmigan out on the tundra we can puruse, full white plumage and great for collecting and eating! The traplines will target marten, beaver, muskrat, fox, coyote, lynx, wolverine and wolves if we can find a kill or trails. Each client can keep one wolverine and one lynx and everything else that is caught on their trip! Try your hand on making some sets of your own and share the excitment of driving up on a set in the middle of a beautifull mtn landscape in remote alaska! Join a local family on a subsitance caribou hunt and help proccess meat for the winter....and enjoy some fresh caribou steaks!! This trap line is set up FOR clients, THIS IS NOT MY LINE I RUN AND TRY TO GET YOU TO PAY FOR IT!!, this trip is designed specificly for clients. The last trips were very successfull as you will see from the below pictures. There is a required $1000.00 deposit on the snowmachine, if you don't break anything all will be refunded save for a $150 charge or inspection from the snowmachine shop. Trip cost is $6000.00 and includes transportation from Anchorage alaska and back, food, loding, traps, bait, snowmachines, skinning/trophy prep. Trapping license is the only other expense, $285. jake jefferson 7362 W. Parks Hwy #381 Wasilla, AK 99623 907-892-4544 www.blackriverhunting.com

This is a GREAT trip that someone should be taking advantage of!!! If you've never been to Alaske in the winter you will be amazed with everything--I know I was (that's me in the red and black) Claude and Jen are great hosts that will treat you like family and Jen's a fantastic cook. Jake will get you on some animals!!! Scott

do you really wanna be sitting at home all winter? or out having the time of your life in the wilds of alaska?....bring the wife ($300), the lodge is comfy, heated and has another woman there to chat with and hang out, great place to relax with unbeatable scenery.

Jake, I hope you take my question as genuine, you make a point to state that this trapline is for the client (not you), what then is the purpose on allowing only 1 wolverine and 1 lynx to be kept? What is done with the others, if caught? Thanks

after we get the wolverine or lyxn i'll set off my traps so we don't get any more...don't wanna clean an area out if i can help it. i aslo don't run alot of traps, last season we only ran about 2-3 dozen at the most and only about 10-15 of those were lynx or wolverine sets. if we do get an extra one i'd just keep it. it also helps keep folks from having the mindset of trapping a pile of furs and thinking this trip is going to pay for itself, i'm not out there to trap and area out, but to give clients an experience they've never had and a variety of animals they possibly have never seen. trying to be more about quality rather than quantity...make sense?

the guys that did it last year all said it was a blast! i had a blast. Something challenging about making a set and giving the animals a chance to decide what they want to do, turn it down or fall for it. hunting you just shoot them, this is a whole different situation, see their tracks in the snow, figure out what you did wrong and try to fix it for when the critter comes back. outsmarting an animal is a different kind of reward from stalking one and shooting it. its a riot!!

Looks interesting. I don't see any wolf pix, what are the chances to get one? Is the lodge pictured with the mountain in the background the "remote lodge" you put up clients for the hunt? Do you provide rifle or pistol or what do you recommend clients bring? 470EDDY

Sorry to go off topic but could you tell me how cold you can get an AR to run in and what you have to do to get it to run in the cold? Do you use dry lube?

i degreased it and clean it with brake cleaner sometimes the snow dust freezes it up, but one of my machines is a fan cooled sled, so i just hold it by the fan for about 5 seconds and off we go!
