All,

I wanted to post a note and give so many of you that have sent well wishes an update on my condition. I ask Saeed where / what forum I should post this, he suggested this forum.

This forum, and it's members, have gone a very, very, long way in lifting my spirits. I have a lot of time on my hands and have spent hours reading past hunting reports by those on AR, looking forward to my first hunting safari in Africa when I beat this disease.

My condition, firstly I should say the doctors re-diagnosed me to having a very rare type of urethra cancer, which had metastisized to my lymph node system. This turned out to be difficult as there has been only one small clinical study ever done on this type of cancer. The study was done by The Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. As fate would have it, I have a good freind I have worked with for 15 years whose wife has been a nurse there for 20 years. It was this group of doctors that actually pinpointed the diagnosis, which was good because the doctors here in VA quite frankly were stumped. Getting accepted at this hospital is extreamly difficult, without an inside connection, it's doubtful I would have gotten in. I'm amazed at how lucky I am in this fact.

Well to make a long story short, she gets me accepted as a patient with the specialist doctor that did the study. He consulted with my oncologist here in Virginia and gave him an experimental chemotherapy regemin. I go into the hospital to receive chemo for 3 days, 12-14 hours of chemo per day, pretty aggressive treatment.

After 3 rounds of chemotherapy I went in for comparative CT and PET scans and it has shown my lymph nodes are shrinking, which is showing the chemo is having a positive effect! I met with my main doctor in New York last week and, while cautious, he said things were going extremely well and thought I was responding to the treatment as good as we could expect.

Needless to say this has give me, and my family some positive news to grasp onto. Sorry for the long note, but wanted to bring you up to speed on everything. Thank you once again for everything you have done, I am truly blessed.

Bet regards

John

I've been following your saga, John. This really is wonderful news! Continue the fight, be strong and never give up.

You may think about adding the following to your diet if you already have not: ACV that has the 'mother' in it. Bragg's is supposed to be excellent. Also add cranberry juice. Drink only the real stuff and avoid sugary, fake mixtures.
