Oryx1983...I honestly don't know. They officially measured them in CM after we left and sent me notice that this one was high representative (they thought it was larger when I shot it at a bit over 300 yards)I was thrilled with it. Thought it had great flair. - I did kill another monster that was super gold. The other one pictured was one that a guy bought on this same type deal during the spring, and it was a representative hunt as well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Mine is being packed and shipped now. If I had it here I would go measure...

The trophy fee for a gold medal (entrance level) being 5000€ ($US 5678) this offer seems to be far to expensive.

I think you are mistaken. This hunt normally starts at $13,000 for the hunt package and a rep trophy. Then to go to Bronze is $7500, another $7500 for silver and another $7500 to hit gold.

If you can find a good outfitter selling gold trophy ibex for $5600, we need to but them all and we will make a lot of money. Appreciate the helpful reply...

Tim,
I don't want to rain on your parade! You are a booking agent and if you have clients willing to pay that much money for a Beceite ibex then good for you. I personally can't afford to pay the prices american hunters pay.
So I may go with an organisation that doesn't throw in so many amenities and is much much less expensive.

The cost for me would be:

Guide - 2 days 180€ (90*2)
Room and full board on a rural hotel - 300€ (4*75)
Hunting licence - 45€
Insurance - 40€
Representative Ibex (+9 years) - 2250€
Bronze medal Ibex - 3500€
Silver medal Ibex - 4000€
Gold medal Ibex - 5000€

TOTALS
Representative - 2815€ ($US 3195)
Bronze medal - 4065€ ($US 4614)
Silver medal - 4565€ ($US 5182)
Gold medal - 5565€ ($US 6315)

These are the prices I am being offered by my long time booking agent.

Appreciate all of the information from everyone on this. It seems like we 'rich Americans' continue to be a financial target for oversees outfits. I wonder how many of us were not aware of the 'other price' on the hunts that we have been on outside the US. Makes you wonder just how pervasive this really is! I am not aware of American outfits showing the same reciprocity to foreign hunters, but hey, maybe now they should: One price for US hunters and double that for foreigners. We seem to be thought of as the land of milk and honey and money-with no end in sight and all for the taking. . . . .

Most of my friends no long use US booking agents for these reasons, at times the prices are double. It is what it is, we all have to make a living.

I assure you this agent is not doubling the price. Their normal price is $13k and they sent me this discount and I tried to pass it along.

Look at prices on the web...I don't think anything was out of line for normal pricing- the European offer is just something I don't think any of us has ever seen...

I don't think it is uncommon in Africa, but in Europe and Asia it is the norm.

Unfortunately I think it is indemic in some parts of Europe.
Everyone is entitled to make a profit. However, I think if you know where to look you can get hunts in Spain much cheaper then you typically see advertised on american forums etc. Booking through one of the major European agents will dictate a similar price to the US ones. It's just lots of European hunters will use the smaller guides who have much lower costs to pay. We end up paying similar to locals rates as a result. Examples are I paid about e3000 for a no size limit Sierra Nevada with three days of hunting all accomodation and airport pick up, and a touch over e4000 for a bronze Gredos.
As far as offers you see made for a bigger company Tims is in line with what we can see in the UK.

As Tim said above, my wife and I did this hunt in March of '13 and had a wonderful time. Vicente was a superb host and we stayed in some very nice hotels, ate wonderful Spanish fare and were toured around Spain after I shot two ibex. Truly a great trip and a good deal at $6,250 if you ask me. You have to remember many outfitters offer an American plan and a European plan, with the European plan offering less amenities. Fine for do-it-yourselfers but when traveling with the Divine Ms. M I dare not cut corners!
