7 days total, 5 hunting days with Valie Enslin and That's Africa Safaris. I went last year and had a blast, planning a return trip in 2025 myself. We have four Buffalo on special offer that can be booked for either this year or next. Valie has also acquired two additional concession in Mozambique, one in Niassa and the other not far from the Limpopo.

Extra days and additional animals can be added.

I’m booked this year, but it would be helpful to say what area of Mozambique since there are very different areas (and experiences) between the Lower Swampy areas and the Niassa in the North

Valie has three concessions, these are not Coutadas but privately owned, large un-fence properties running several hundred thousand acres each. None of the areas are in truly swampy parts of Mozambique. One concession is the one I hunt bordering the Gonarezhou National Park, one in Niassa and one by the Limpopo.

First pics out of the Niassa camp, two more camps currently under construction on this concession as well. This concession will be hunted for the first time in many years starting this May/June. Valie only has a small number of Buffalo on quota this year for the Niassa concession, next year they say a large number will be granted.

What is the security situation up in the North at the moment? I ask as I had to cancel a recent trip to the coastal areas around Pemba recently due to security warnings.

I asked about that myself as it was a concern of mine as well. Valie has told me that the concession is far from the area with the Islamist problems. To access the Niassa concession you would fly into Maputo then take a connecting flight to Lichinga, from there it is a short drive to the concession.

How is the shipping situation from Mozambique to US?
Hunts seemed to always be the easy part

My trophies are coming through South Africa, Valie takes them to Maputo for cleaning and clearance for export at the end of each hunting season, they then go to SA for shipping to the States. I am still in the process of bringing back my trophies from the fall of 2023.

Bump to the top.

Trophies are now waiting for Mozambique export permits and then will be trucked to SA by Life-Form taxidermy.

Based on my experience, recent exportation from Mozambique has been met with significant delays (18-24 months).

I would be very careful when selecting the company for a Mozambique safari and check numerous recent references to assess their experience with exportation. Some companies (Zambeze Delta and Kambako) have trophies out quite a bit prompter than others.

Additionally, trophy preparation and quality of salt is a common issue in Moz. It would be beneficial to consult with taxidermists that receive a lot of Moz trophies to select a company with the best reputation. Or you might end up with a Roosevelt sable with a slipped mane...

I heard the same, Mozambique trophy handling is spotty at least
They probably need Trump to clean that place up

I just had Euro mounts done, no room in the house for shoulder mounts. Life-Form seems to have things moving along well so far. We will see as time goes on.
