I have been holding early May for a hunter who now cannot make the hunt. So at this late date I am going to offer a discount on the hunt.

List rate was $5500 ....
I will book now at $4500 ....

To be scheduled during the first 2 weeks of May.

The hunt will take place on Prince of Wales Island on the Tongass National by USFS permit.

Your jet travel should be scheduled from your home to Seattle to Ketchikan via Alaska Airlines. Most hunters arrive in Ketchikan about 4 pm. Since the airport is on an Island across from Ketchikan it is usually about 5:30 pm before you get checked into a motel. There are several motels to choose from. The rates should be from $125 to $175. I will help you with all your arrangements.

The next day you will take the Inter Island Ferry MV Prince of Wales to Hollis for about $40 each way. There is one sailing a day which departs at 3:30 pm. It is a 3 hour ferry ride which gets you to Hollis about 6:30 pm where I will meet you. If weather permits some hunters prefer to fly over to Hollis at a scheduled seat fare of about $150 one way. You can plan on the ferry going in any weather.

Your return to Ketchikan on the IFA Ferry departs Hollis at 8:00 am. Arriving in Ketchikan about 11:00 am, so an afternoon or early am (the next day) jet departure can be scheduled.

Your airline reservations would need at least a 9 to 10 day jet spread.

These hunts will be scheduled for 7 days of hunting. Does not count your travel days.

We have hunted this area over the years and are very familiar with it. A B&C or P&Y quality Bear is very possible.

The hunt will be based out of the Hollis Cabin returning there every evening. Spot & stalk style hunting. Some days we hunt upland from the logging road system. Some times hiking into a tidal flat or down the lower end of a river system. Some days we launch the skiff at one of several bays and hunt the beaches and tidal flats from the water. Some times we will set up a beach tent camp, for a few days, to be better situated and not have a late night drive back to the cabin.

You must be prepared to hunt in wet conditions. Prince of Wales Island is thick coastal rain-forest. It will be cold to mild temperatures in the 40's and 50's or even 60's. It can range from mixed rain and snow to heavy rain and windy to sunny and nice.

Does not include License and Tag.

I am a vendor and have all necessary licenses and tags on hand or I can help you select the right license, tags and permit on-line.

Non-resident hunting license fees are $85, Mt Goat tag is $300, Black Bear tag is $225, Brown Bear tag is $500, Deer tag is $150, Wolverine tag is $175 and Wolf tag is $30.

Many hunters purchase a fishing license and we get in some crabbing and bottom fishing from the skiff if we have time. Fresh seafood meals are always great.

Great place to hunt. I highly recommend for serious Black Bear hunters. Prince of Wales is grand and I did it a couple of times a few years back. It rained pretty much every day but we saw several bears every day. I hope you sale it.

This hunt offering did book.

I do have early June available for a different type of hunt.

If you are interested in flying remote into the Misty Fjords Wilderness area and setting up a beach tent camp, drop me a note.

We will use a Beaver float plane to get there and I have a small Zodiac we will use to access the the bay and tidal flat area. This bay has not seen a hunter in quite a few years. Black, Cinnamon and very rarely a Glacier Bear will be there.

The air charter costs about $2000 from Ketchikan and will be covered in the hunt rate.

The hunt rate is normally $6500 and I will now reduce that rate to $6000. Does not include Lic & Tag or room and board while in Ketchikan.

This is a very good opportunity for a Bow hunter on a spot and stalk type hunt.
