I think Jake has gotten out of the guide business. Never got to use him, but from what I read and heard, he was one of the best. Knute

I guess so. His old website address is for sale. I hunted with him about this time last year off of snow mobiles for grizzly. We were unsuccessful, but still had a great time. We saw shootable bears, but just couldn't get to them. It was a hell of an experience doing wilderness snowmobiling. He might have his hands full taking care of foster kids.

I talked to Jake 2 weeks ago and he did indeed shut down his guiding business.

Tough business to make it when you are the only guide and have to do everything.
He was a good example of a great Alaska guide and camp manager.
Going to miss his offers.

Jake was one of the greats when it came to integrity and honesty in the hunting industry. From talking to him he is really excited to be in his new field of work and spending good quality time with the family. I'm sure I will run into him out chasing bears of sheep again...

Probably because he's a lot smarter than those of us that have decided to stay in the guiding business Big Grin
