Good day

We just finished our first hunt of the season in our Gokwe areas. The areas are free range and remote.

We did a 14-day leopard, plains game hunt. The hunt was done between both areas being the South and the North.
Although the 2 camps are not far from each other, due to bad roads it took us 3 hours between the camps. I have attached some photos of the animals that we took being leopard, zebra, hyena, crocodile as well as videos of buffalo and elephant.

In the South, populations of Buffalo and plains game are fed by Sengwa Research Area as well as the Chirisa Safari Area. (Please see the map on my website for the positioning of Gokwe South) this provides good populations of game due to the positioning of the area, particularly buffalo.

There is good population of dugga boys due where the South is situated. There is also a decent Elephant Bull population average size being 30 to 35 pounds which is acceptable for export as well as Tuskless Elephant. A good population of Zebra, Eland, Kudu, Hyena and Impala and bushbuck.

For the season 2024 we have sold the Elephant Bull as we only receive 1 on quota, however, we are taking booking for 2025. We are allocated 1 Tuskless Elephant and at present this is still available.

There is a leopard on quota, however, there was sign at the baits of a young male which we decided not to hunt and to take a bigger mature male in the North Area.

On the safari in the South Concession we took zebra and hyena and could have taken numerous buffalo bulls as there are good populations of dugga boys in the area but due to miscommunication between myself and agent the client did not wish to take a buffalo as he already shot one (see video of dugga boys seen) therefore we did not shoot a buffalo, so I now have an extra buffalo permit available in the South which I would like to sell for this year.

Dugga Boy

North Concession
In the North Concession we have good populations of buffalo, herds and dugga boys, Elephant Bulls, Tuskless Elephant, Chobe bushbuck and other plains game.

The North concession the hunting is challenging due to very thick vegetation.

On the safari in the North Concession, we took our leopard and a crocodile.

It is legal in both the South and the North to hunt leopard at night over bait as both areas are under CAMPFIRE. It is also legal to use livestock (cows) as bait, which is what we used.

The Leopard was taken on the 12th day of the hunt at around 6.00pm and we used 8 baits and trail cameras.

For both areas we want to hunt 1 x 1 or 2 x 1 being one hunting vehicle at a time therefore not creating excess pressure.
