Here are the cull packages I can offer for this year

7 Day Buffalo Cull Package

2x1 hunting - US $7000 per person
INCLUDES

collection from local airstrip
4wd hunting vehicle and licenced safari guide
Aboriginal land access permissions
remote bush camp with 24 hour generator power, canvas tents with fan, fresh water shower and toilet facility
food and drinks
all non trophy buffalo harvested
any incidental scrub bull/wild ox, wild boar and dingo can be taken for free
field care of 2 x skulls and horns

DOES NOT INCLUDE

international, domestic or charter flights to get to camp
international hunting licence and firearm import permits (if required)
rifle hire or ammunition (if required)
trophy fees on trophy animals
accommodation before or after the hunt in Darwin
any taxidermy work
trophy transport to your preferred taxidermist or shipping agent

Unlike the cull hunts in 2013 and 2014 - all meat is recovered on this concession
Hunters are limited to the number of animals harvested only by the time taken to recover the meat from the carcasses

As this is a meat hunt, animals will be taken as encountered and they may be buffalo bulls, buffalo cows or even wild ox.
Hunters are welcome to specifically target large mature and heavy bodied bulls where opportunity exists to select these animals as their preference.

Note that bulls over 100 SCI are considered trophy animals and may not be taken without a trophy fee.
Many Bulls under 100 SCI could be considered excellent representative trophies on other concessions ......AS SUCH hunters on this cull will be permitted to collect a maximum of 2 skulls and horns suitable for Euro mount.

A Conservative expectation would be to harvest a minimum of 2-3 large mature bulls per day and probably 7-8 animals if targeting cows and young animals. (Compare that in price to a cape buffalo hunt !!)

Suitable dates for hunting are from July 18th through to November 1st 2015

for those considering the hunt this is a remote Arnhem land location in the Northern Territory of Australia.
To get to camp will require
international airfare to Darwin Australia
domestic commercial flight to a nearby Arnhem land community
15 minute charter flight to the local airstrip.

An estimate on domestic flight is $360-$500 per person one way depending on advance notice

An estimate on the charter is $150 per person one way (based on the two hunters flying)

How much more is 1x1?

And how hot is it in the NT in October?

Is 1 x 1 possible this year?

The price of the cull hunt on this concession is 14K regardless if there are one or two hunters.

This represents the total price for all animals included. To hunt 2x1 the animals are shared and so the price is split between both hunters

sorry - I am unable to offer the same 1x1 package as was available in 2014

NT in October will be 32-33 degrees celcius.....but the humidity will be building at that time of year. Expect to sweat a little !

Well at least the airline ammo weight restriction is no longer an issue......
And the temperature is only 90 F, not bad.

Because now if you can only shoot two or 3 a day between two guys, you don't need as much ammo as they did last year when each guy shot ten a day. Depending on the caliber you bring, 11 pounds might be enough, whereas last year, it wasn't.

Can you accommodate a third shooter?
What airport are you expecting arrival before Charter in>>?? I recall last year you were driving into Camp....is this an option>?

The number of animals is combined but is really quite conservative and more is certainly possible. There is a drive in option for hunters that fly into gove airport. Drive in is 6 hours and $450 each way.

What are the trophy fees for the bulls? Dip and pack estimates?

On Cull Hunts you may take Skull and horns from bull less than 100 SCI for no trophy fee.

A trophy bull has a trophy fee of $3000.

Trophys can be delivered to Darwin. Further Freight from Darwin and to a preferred taxidermist for Dip and pack is at the hunters cost. Some restrictions may apply to EU countries and I am unable to provide a general estimate for dip and pack

How about capes? Is there a 1:1 option?

Yes, It is possible to take the cull hunt as 1x1 and shoot multiple cull animals yourself. We will not take the capes on these cull animals though

Price is double 2x1 rate. You can add a trophy buffalo for $3000 and we will stop to take the cape. This is a good option if you want to hunt many other buffalo as well as your trophy

If you want to just hunt a trophy animal then a 1x1 trophy hunt is more economical way to go

Talking about saving the meat. Is that going to be a "shoot one animal, then wait til it's butchered before the next is shot, or shoot several then do the butchering?" Also, do you expect the hunters to help with the butchering too? In the past years I've done a lot of that but, now with health and back problems there's no way I could assist much. Just can't do it now, hell it'll be a challenge for me to just walk much unless something changes for me.

What's the procedure for saving the meat, butchering on the spot, or loading into trailers as I've seen of both Mike and Franks hunts in the past?

What do you anticipate costs and limitations being in 2016? There's no way I can make the trip this year due to health reasons still affecting me.

One more thing, what constitutes a score of 100? If a hunter tells you in advance they don't want to shoot a 'bonus cost' bull, will you guys keep us out of trouble with that in enough time to pass them up????????""

Hi George,

When Mike and Frank hunted we did not recover any meat. For this year though we must recover it. There will be someone there to do the butchering so you are not required to do this .......but the job will be a little quicker if there are more hands helping. Yes it is done on the spot but It is likely that several animals from a group can be taken and and butchered BUT we wont move on to another herd until the carcasses of the first shoot are recovered

I am unsure what access and concessions will be available in 2016 yet but hunt costs are likely to remain unchanged for any similar hunts on offer in 2016

A 100 point bull is as per SCI score and we you will be advised with plenty of notice so that you don't pull the trigger on the wrong one.

Looks like the hunters do a fair amount of animal evisceration, to move on to the next animal? correct?

on the concession available to us this year then we must recover the meat. Meat is not for human consumption so it can be a reasonably quick and rough but yes, hunting will stop until the animals killed are boned out before moving on to the next herd.

I got the 100pt part first time. Could you show one that's just barely 100pts??

OR give a measurement maybe?

I'm trying to get in some offhand practice and want to paint a bulls head n body on a sheet of cardboard. Could you give me some fairly close either estimates, or measurement of one's head?
Say: between the eyes, width & length of face & width of nose.

I've watched some of the hunt videos and been around cattle all my life including estimating weights along with much more experienced folks. I don't believe the wt of a "ton" is near high enough. Some of those bulls I've seen look at least 4ft across the ass end and close to 5' tall. We've butchered LOT'S of steers 1200-1500lbs, some cows that hit 2000. None of them were near as big as these buffs in the vids.
Dad also had a huge white Charlais bull that stood near 6'6" at the whithers. His face was big as the moose Dad killed. Far as body, he was quite thin compared to height of it. He dressed out at 1800lbs. That would make him
right near 3600.

I very much believe if his ass had been as broad and a foot shorter he'd weighed the same. Have you actually weighed some of those bigger buff's whole? Are they actually 5' tall? OR have I guessed wrong? It sure don't take much of a beef to hit 2000lbs.

Hi George

a mature bull might measure 10 inches across at the eyeballs and around 22 inches from muzzle to the top of the skull if you want some typical face measurements

although higher at the shoulder, a typical stance would have the eye level at about 5 foot and he is probably going to weigh in somewhere around 2000 pound.
