Just having a chat with Charlie Harvey whose family owns the vast Shiwa Ngandu estate in Northern Zambia which abuts the Bangweulu swamps. Apparently, there is a Buffalo for sale in the swamps along with Black Lechwe. I have hunted Buff here before and it was mainly a dry land experience on foot.



Charlie and I are asking if is there anyone out there who would be interested in a five-day Shiwa and five-day Banweulu hunt and note this is a vehicle expedition and the venue is a twelve hours drive from Lusaka and the swamps another rolling drive.

Looking at pricing and all is a bit sketchy at the moment but we would be looking at $24,000 inclusive of Buffalo and Black Lechwe trophy fees in the swamps. This is also inclusive of five days of hunting at Shiwa and here one can hunt Kafue Lechwe Sable Eland and a host of other desirable species. Obviously, there are vehicle transfer fees and dip & pack to consider and a charter is an option.

Apologies Saeed if I do not have all the information but putting a safari like this takes time and effort and rather I am seeking interest in such a proposal prior to the final planning and I would like to put it past AR members first.

A hunting observer can be considered in Shiwa for $350 a day which is a bargain.

The last time I hunted Buffalo here was with AR's Faisal and we drove many kilometers across the fascinating Flats enquiring with the fishermen as to the whereabouts of Buffalo and once we found fresh tracks we closed the gap and shot a good bull. We got some mud on our boots for our efforts. We witnessed incredible sights and vast herds of male Black Lechwe.

We are now suggesting 7 days at Shiwa and 5 days at the swamps. Add a day for the vehicle transfer. Add two days back and forth to the Northern region. I am still negotiating prices and figures.

Two hunters sharing would make this very attractive but there is only one Buffalo on sale as part of the Africa Parks management scheme.

Pricing and now 7 days in October of hunting at Shiwa and 5 days in Bangweulu swamps:

Shiwa Ngandu = $1,000 a day. Sub Total $7,000

Bangweulu = $1,150 a day. Sub Total $5,750.

Andrew I think the sable came from Sichifulo, I could be wrong.

Who would want to take over your hunting areas, is a good starting point.

When i look at the pictures on a hunting forum, it is a representative of possible animals you may encounter. The animals in the pictures are no longer available from what i have learned.

I have taken dozens of big Sable and could have used my own photographs but wanted specific images from Shiwa Ngandu and this is what I was sent.

I have posted the quotas available as sent by Charlie Harvey the owner and operator on the above date.

I am conducting numerous safaris here including two Sitatunga and have reserved much of the quota.
