Hello Everyone,

This is a rare opportunity to cull Banteng in the Coburg Peninsular! These are totally wild free ranging Banteng. They are a true wild bovine native to South East Asia and are very closely related to the Indian Gaur. Highly endangered in their native lands Australia is the only place where one can hunt them.

The only dates are 1st to 7th November and if there is enough demand they can do a second hunt 10-17th. In each period they are looking to shoot 80 animals with 4 hunters, so in theory 20 animals each. Cost per hunter is $18,500. If you want, you can buy 2 spots, then you would be able to shoot 40 animals. There will be enough animals to shoot at, what is on the ground of course depends upon the person shooting, it is a driven hunt. It is possible that there maybe some buffalo in the mix as well.

All the meat will be recovered so it’s a big operation with a butchery etc. There will be a helicopter to scout, flush out animals or ferry the hunters to shooting positions if required. No shooting from a helicopter will be allowed.

Fly in to Darwin where you will met and then drive 6 hours to camp, 5 hunting days and then return to Darwin.

Only extra cost will be ammo and accomodation and meals outside camp.

You will be allowed to take home one set of skull and horns, the focus is on shooting cull animals. If you wish to hunt a trophy Banteng that will also be possible but that's at a different cost. I have hunted this area personally with clients last year and all 4 of us shot some really nice trophy Banteng. It was a great hunt on foot requiring some careful stalking, they are very spooky far more than the buffalo. It may look like a cow to some, but these are true wild bovine from South East Asia and are closely related to the Indian Gaur. Highly endangered in their native home lands Australia is the only place where you can hunt them.

Below are pictures of two of the 4 Trophy banteng we shot last year. Also some pics from the camp. Time permitting there is also some great fishing as well.

At that time of the year you can expect it to be hot but the camp is air conditioned and is situated on a cliff overlooking a huge bay so a steady sea breeze day and night!

This is a one time opportunity for a very unique hunt.

Thanks for your time.

Interesting. So are bentang more pricey than buff? Why the cull? That said sounds like a good time. At least someone is doing culls still

Banteng will always be more expensive than water buffalo which are widely distributed on the northern coastal monsoon country. Banteng are mainly confined to the Cobourg Peninsular within the National Park. It is remote with limited access. There are very few legal operators but no shortage of poaching outfits. Legal operators charge high prices because they can! In my limited experience there are probably too many Banteng on Cobourg so a cull is good.
Banteng are flightier than water buffalo but are also more aggressive. Good sport!

My banteng hunt was a lot of fun.

If my schedule wasn’t already full, I’d be looking into this.

Banteng reminded me a lot more of African buffalo hunting than the water buff did. Much more flighty and needing to get your stalk right.

I’m not sure this cull hunt would be similar, but whoever does it should have a grand time!

Yes Sir,

You do not need to take a rifle.
