NORTH CAMEROON SPECIAL Only $5000 @ Once again I am offering a 14 day hunt/fishing adventure in northern Cameroon. Hunt is if for two/three people and for a total of 5,000@ or single hunter at $7000. (Limited to the first 2 groups of hunters.) This hunt takes place in the personal hunting estate of the Lamido of Rey Bouba. It is a self-guided hunt, but in an “easy” area to hunt with good hunting, accommodations and fishing. Pictured here is the Lamido or king of northern Cameroon. If he is at his palace he will grant clients an audience. His still has a feudal kingship replete with mud wall castle and knights in mail armor. Camp is comfortable with thatch bungalows, beds, running water, showers, flush toilets, solar lighting and telephone coverage. You stay in the most comfortable camp we operate next to a nice river with good fishing. There is a regular kitchen with dining room to eat at. Solar power provides light and necessities. Beds are supplied with mosquito nets. It is generally a hot hunt. You go out daily from camp walking or in a vehicle and return at dark after following tracks, or spot and stalk. Camp is situated on a nice river with good fishing for Nile perch and tiger fish, as well as a number of tropical unknowns. Zone 10 has all of the following animals: [/IMG]p://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn164/Camshaft2008/redflankedduiker.jpg[/IMG] [IMG]http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn164/Camshaft2008/bushbuck.jpg Trophy fees for Cameroun Hunt Cameroon laws are complex, so read carefully. Animal $ cost Animal $ cost Roan * $2,000 Grimm and Red Flanked $400 Waterbuck $900 Western Cob $500 Hartebeest $500 Oribi $400 Bushbuck $500 Reedbuck $500 Red River Hog/Warthog $300 We have found some eland and buffalo, but they are not prevalent. You can shoot them if you find them, but I am not selling this as a buffalo or eland hunt. I have other areas for these species, feel free to inquire, but the price is considerably higher. Savannah Buffalo * $2,500 Lord Derby Eland * $4,000 *Denotes group 1 animal, of which you are only allowed 2. Four other animals are allowed per hunter/year (Group 2) Six maximum animals, if you shoot a roan and a buffalo or eland. Only males may be shot. If you do not shoot a Group 2 animal you may shoot only 4 species total. Wounded animals are charged at full rate. Females are charged at double (2X) rates. If you do shoot 5 or 6 animals you get charged for 2 CITES permits. (Cameroun laws) BEFORE YOU LEAVE: • You get a complete list of what to bring and what is provided, down to your toothbrush. • I will work with you ahead of the hunt to get your gun import paperwork, visa and hunting license in Cameroon completed. • You apply and pay for visa and gun import with my help. You need to start 3 months ahead of time to assure hunt permit. I send copies of your visa and gun import you provide me to Cameroon at least 2 months ahead of the hunt so your Cameroon hunting permit is ready on arrival. WHEN YOU ARRIVE: • I have a crew in country that picks you up at the airport, Yaoundé (NSI airline code). One of my staff is with you the whole trip. My staff is used to handling English and French speaking clients, but French is their primary language. We have done this over 100 times! • You typically spend the first and last nights at a hotel or my apartment. Your cost. • I arrange local transportation, which includes trains, my vehicles and/or a hired car to take you to the camp. Train ride is overnight. You will be on foot the most of the time, as game is prevalent near the hunting camp. A vehicle can transport you out and help in game retrieval, but the hunting is on foot. In-country transport is included in your fee. • You are responsible for all of your own personal gear. Guns can be rented; .375H&H. • All your in-country food is purchased for you along with provisions for the staff. I pay for these. I recommend you bring some freeze-dried food and snacks, but basic food is provided. • I arrange to have someone to boil water (not to be confused with a real cook) for you, trackers and porters. You will have a staff of 3-4 personnel as well as maid service for clothes washing. There is a gas stove and gas refrigerator. • There are experienced skinners assigned to you, but you are still responsible for the oversight of the skinning. AT THE END OF THE TRIP: • I will arrange to have paperwork completed at the end of the trip so trophies can be exported. This includes all CITES and veterinary paperwork for export. I arrange for air shipping. I charge $2000 for all the export work. This includes a $500 credit on shipping fees. Earlier you have less disturbed game. Later on water becomes an issue and we have the Mayo Rey which is in the middle of our concession and right by camp, so it draws in game for us. Rains start again in May so it cools off and tracking is better. Each season has it's advantages. In all cases I can exchange some days at the King's concession for days in other near by concessions with eland and buffalo more prevalent, if the hunter wishes, but there is a charge. cam

this will be my 12th African safari and i have to admit-i am more jacked up about this one than the first 11. there is just something about a DIY hunt with no PH to hold my hand that winds my watch. regardless of outcome, i really look upon it as an adventure rather than a hunting trip. trophies killed are really immaterial- it's the journey that counts.... jdollar, perfectly worded. I land on the 9th April for the same hunt, take that you'll be back in Fresno by then. For me this is a journey, a process of wonder and getting excited. I call the shots, set the time and pace, if I screw up, I do it my way and I face the music on that. Lovely. There will be game taken and fish caught, but they are the bonus that completes the adventure.

Just back from this hunt - great experience and hunt. Jdollar and Brain1 - good ot meet you on the way in, found good use of your advice. I saw 11 different species in 6 days and took 5 animals ( Roan, old broomed back, Red River Hog - great Boar,Kob, best I saw but young, Sing-Sing Waterbuck, old broomed back, Harnessed Bushbuck in its absolute prime, likely to go top 25 in SCI ) in the first 5 days - this is hunting at its best. If I can find out how to do it, I'll get my act together and post a report. This has to be a top 3 of all the hunts I've done, Down to earth, you earn your trophies with your feet and determination, staff that want the best for you and work their heart out. Go for it - this type of hunts are far and few in between. Cheers Jan

Man that roan is old. What a trophy!
Jerry, I agree. This type of adventure is one that you can't get out of your system. I can't wait to go back! Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown
