We do not share a camp with the Auction Hunters - we have our own camp, where Old A camp use to be.

You are so right, wish I can pack up and move their permanently, incredible the number of lion prides that move around there. The nice, and somewhat eerie, part is that you will find Lions tracks on top of yours. Leopard - had the strangest experience with a Leopard we had on bait there, we went to check on the bait and to see if it did climb... that was 13h20 and we actually found the bugger on the bait... needless to say no hunter in sight... was busy tracking buffalo.. you should come up and visit us.

I hunted Nyakasanga back in 2005 with Guy Whittall. The area is full of game. We saw Lions on a daily basis and there was plenty of Elephant and Buffalo about.

The fishing is great too.

You are very fortunate to have hunted this area, I just wish we could show this to more people, the perception around Zimbabwe is not good. However we try... Yes Lions on a daily basis, saw some PHs come out their tents next morning look like they had a "heavy" night... yep, Lions roaring close to camp/tents...
Still the same Mike, plenty Elle, Buff and Shumba. Fishing... well... still a bit poor to buy the right boat for that activity..

That is where we shot a 15 foot croc in July. There is some real monsters close to where the Nyakasanga river join the Zambezi.

I assume then that this is then the Rifa area to the west of the tar road, but everything you describe is the Auction area. Has parks now made this area a concession? Another company offered similar hunts again in the section commonly called the auction area. Your square miles description describes the auction area.

From your website it looks like there is a quota listed from parks and if Nyakasanga is no longer an auction area or extra quota is being hunted that would be information many would like to hear about. What is the story?

It is not the section on left of the road, Rifa but indeed Nyakasanga. The area is still an auction area, we bought a concession after parks made a mistake with our other area Matetsi 2 they offered us a concession in Nyakasanga Area. Parks were suppose to allocate a designated area to us, the guys from Zim Hunters and others were not happy and parks then said we can hunt the whole area as described, thus the whole area can be hunted by Bouna's clients.

yes is the place where my picture on the sunset was taken.
I've seen elephants there in the night and also a big leopard.
What about the old sugar plantation? Did you went there? Do you know the people who run the safari operation there?

Like the camp Bouna is hunting from the Croc farm has been taken from those that built these operations. The former manager of the croc farm passed away last year, suddenly.
Quite a shame what all has happened. Was interested in a hunt, until I did a little digging.

The Croc farm is part of what is called Chirundu Estates, and this has nothing to do with Bouna, Chirundu Estates have their own concession and still hunt that concession. Bouna has its own concession and I do not know what you mean with "Like the camp Bouna is hunting from the Croc farm has been taken from those that built these operations. The former manager of the croc farm passed away last year, suddenly.

I've never seen this estate only crossed from the main road Harare-Lusaka to the camp. But I think is a very interesting place. The unique private area in the area and they told me they had a big game quota. A good place for buil a private camp one the zambezi.

You were lucky, nobody is allowed to pass through the Chirundu Estates anymore, another person did stuff it up for us. We are re-building the camp where you took the picture and not on the estate. They do have their own "camp", more a lodge.

Not trying to start a pissing contest, but I am curious and think folks on the Forum ought to know. Is the Joe Chitambwe mentioned above the same PH who used to work for Big 5 Safaris and was fired and then had his license revoked for being involved in some sort of scandel in Chizarira National Park? If not, my apologies but as I recall the allegations were quite serious.

You might be a really great person and you definitely have a great area to hunt and camp to hunt from. I’m sure there will be people that will jump on a good cheap deal. But for me I’ll support Zimbabwean hunters such as the Hulmes, Duckworths and the like, when in Zimbabwe.

Theo Verster and Francois Scholtz do not appear on the Zim parks list of professional hunters from 2006. Maybe these names have been added recently. The only Joe Chitambwe worked at Big 5.

The allowance of your firm to use the Auction area as a private concession is not a normal occurrence. Granted they have been doing meat quotas in past years but to allow a firm to use quota from another area on top of the auction quota is questionable and could have long term affects. Auction hunt quota on Lion is one you have two on quota.

The camp you have posted on your website is “Kockotts Camp” and not old A camp. Now you may be hunting out of A camp, but at one time you did use Kockotts Camp. While you are not the actual insturment of it being taken, you are an enabler.

What type of friend or even client would I be if one day I’m on the phone taking about our grandbabies and the next I’m booking a hunt that would have me possibly staying in the camp they built?
