I have booked my Brown Bear openings and that pretty much takes up May.

I just wanted to thank those that responded to this posting.

My booking agent called and he is running a discount special email-out. I decided to discount the Misty Fjords Black Bear hunt as well as changing my late August Sitka Blacktil slot to a 'simi-guided' hunt.

Alpine backpack tent camp ... 5 day hunt to be scheduled between Aug 15 and 26 .... was (guided) $4500 1x1 / $3750 each 2x1 ... now $3000 per person (one or 2 hunters) simi-guided ... I provide: help with travel planning; hunt info and planning; camp and help to - from camp; food; cabin before and after to launch out of; hunter(s) on there own from tent camp.

I will negotiate a good rate on this hunt as a Guided hunt also.

I also have late April slot available for a Black Bear hunt on Prince of Wales Island.

Based out of my Cabin.

1x1 $4500 .... 2x1 $3750

We launch out of my cabin and hunt the beaches via a 16 Lund skiff. Sometimes setting up a beach camp for a few days.

Black Bear only no color phase Bear out there ...

What is a blue bear?

Glacier / Blue bear ... found more up north, along the coast north of Juneau. But even there extremely rare.

Just like the Cinnamon Phase of Black Bear (or Kermode, white) they come in various colors. There have been a few taken in history in the Misty Fjords ... mostly the darker phase Blue Bear. The one we took had blackish legs, blackish dorsal stripe, black guard hair and blue / grey under fur with blue / grey opaque claws. The local ADF&G Biologist ID'd it as a Glacier Bear while sealing it.

The Alaska Black Bear sealing cert has boxes for Black / Cinnamon / Glacier.

This has been a mild winter and there will be nice Bears out in late April.
