That's a very amazing deal.

Where about in Northern Namibia?
Private land or Conservancy land?

This hunt is run through a Namibian outfitter with a Namibian PH as per the regulations of the country. But I will be guiding the hunt and making sure you get the right lion.

By the right lion, what do you mean? Are they on a fenced game ranch? And though they are booked through a NAmibian outfitter, with a NAmibian PH, how are you able to guide the hunt. I thought a Namibian PH licensed for DG hunting had to guide such hunts- not a PH from another country who brings clients. I question the legality of you guiding the hunt unless you possess a full NAmibian license. Please enlighten me.

JDollar it is not uncommon at all for a PH in one country to contract with a PH in another country. The resident PH still has to be present at all times, but the foreign PH and his client can hunt legally - assuming that it's a legal hunt.

I've hunted with the same South African PH in 6 different African countries. He's only "legal" in SA.

Exactly.

Nothing wrong with this. This applies to many countries in Africa too.

100% legal and done by many many Ph's in every African country.
Simple fact is if I bring my client, then the client is trusting me to look after him.

There are 3 males that we know of, I want the biggest one.
I will supply full information to any legitimate hunter who intends to do the hunt.

These Lions are 100% free range, self sustaining and very sought after.

Works a little bit differently in Zimbabwe, PH's from other countries can accompany their clients as long as they are recorded as ' observers ' on the relevant TRAS2 form.
They may not conduct the hunt.
They may only carry a weapon during the course of the safari if legally recorded as part of the hunting party as an observer.
Not sure of regulations in other countries but thats the law in Zim.

I think I would want a definite position on the legality from the Nam government and the NAPHA.

Post-Cecil, I don't want to be anywhere near the grey area of the law.

+ about 50 in writing and copies in a safe place. Maybe even some video evidence of the outfitter and PH telling you so.

Well that was true before Cecil but few knew.

As long a MET has issued the proper permits for a Nam lion, this is perfectly legal. There are plenty lion around Etosha in the north of Nam and many are problem lions as well. Regardless of hunting, many are poisoned or shot each year due to cattle encounters.

As Opus rightly states.
Unless hunters step up and take the initiative to market these lions and hunt them, there will only be an ever increasing number that will be poisoned by desperate farmers.

The game departments are no longer equipped to handle these situations either, it really is up to hunters to ensure the sustainable survival of lions and other predators before poison finishes them off completely.
We must give these animals a value, as the alternative is to have them treated as a pest

This hunt is 100% legal and all documentation will be given to the client before he hunts for him to check with NAPHA and or the MET.

Out side of the hunting community and cattle folks, few understand what a pest cats are.

I do not have the latest numbers but 80 lion were poisoned or shot by June of this year around Etosha. Better to sell them in a controlled manner and generate revenue than wipe them out.

Are you taking any deposits for Lion hunts in 2016?

And, if so, will you return these deposits to the hunters if they are unable to get an import permit as a result of the USF&W rule proposal?

Good Morning Les

Yes we are taking deposits for 2016 and the short answer is yes, your deposit will be 100% refundable or if you prefer transferable to another hunt.

We also have leopard over hounds available in Mozambique and a variety of other hunts.
Please PM me your email address and I will send you all of the options currently on the table for Cat hunting
Thanks
Ian

Update from the farm owner today.
The males are still with the group and were sighted in the North western corner.
Will have an update again tomorrow. Hoping they can get some trail cam shots to us soon.

Hi Jan

Am emailing details to you now.
I would say that your odds are 99% that you will take the cat and I am happy to go up a few days before arrival to get things going and do some planning before arrival.

Thanks
Ian
