MARK H. YOUNGZAMBIA OPENS 10 day hunt added w/more details
John Du Plooy/Muchinga Adventures has given me the go ahead to market some buffalo hunts for '15. He was awarded the Chifunda GMA in the recent tender and is anxious to get back to hunting full time. Chifunda is
690,000 acres on the Luangwa river and borders directly on the North Luangwa Park covering the majority of the park's eastern boundary. This is a very good block with lots of buffalo and actually produced the SCI # 1 buffalo a few years ago. The river is loaded with hippo and croc plus the riverine has good PG. A croc and hippo should be quite easy even on a short buffalo hunt.
I had an excellent hunt with Johnny in '12 and have had many happy clients with him over the years. Johnny is expecting leopard to be on quota before the '15 season kicks off so I have my fingers crossed on that one as the already amazing leopard hunting along the Luangwa will be even better following the recent closure.
The Luangwa is real wild Africa and I can almost guarantee lions calling near your chalet nightly and elephants wondering through camp at night.
Pricing: For now these hunts are what's available. An upgrade to two buffalo can be had by special arrangement. Please note if you consider the trophy fees being much lower than the average in Zimbabwe for buffalo, hippo and croc this hunt becomes very attractive.

FrostbitHunted with these guys in 2010 and they run a flawless operation start to finish.
Mark, confused by one thing. There's the concession fee with the individual "packages" like the old days but what is the "Cons" fee in the "Lic, gun permit,
Cons fee $1,450 ?
I will be forever grateful to Johnny du Plooy as he was the first to get Joyce interesting in killing more than paper.
Cheers

MARK H. YOUNGGuys,
I've spelled out the $1,450 fee as I should have when I initially put the ad up. Hunting license, bird license, gun permit, Conservation fee $1,450.
Mike,
Yes. Daily fees+Concession+licenses, gun permit and Conservation fee. I've just rec'd this in the last few hours and I will find out the charter costs. Road transfers really are not practical as if I remember correctly it might take 14 hours and will bust your butt. Zambia does not have the road system that Zim does.

FrostbitWhen I added it all up, looks like it's about $4,000 more or so than my 7 day Buff hunt
5 years ago and the bulk of that is the concession fee bump from $1,000 to $3,500.
I'd say very fair pricing by Johnny & Laura in a beautiful part of Zambia.
Cheers

Agree and I think some good buff will be taken this year. The prices are fair.

Dog ManI had a great hunt with Muchinga in 2009. No problems from airport pick up to getting my trophies home.
Really glad to see Zambia outfitters getting back into the game.
