Leopard and sable combo with Nyati Safaris in Niassa Mozambique

I've been corresponding with Toni Wicker/Nyati Safaris AKA Freischuetz here on AR for several months. At first he just invited Sadie and I out for a buffalo hunt on his Coutada 14 concession on the Zambezi Delta. Then one thing led to another and Toni decided to let me offer his hunts both on the Delta and also on his two concessions Nungo and Messalo in the Niassa province.

Initially I'm going to offer his leopard/sable combos in Niassa because I think it is a great hunt in an a very wild area with nearly a 100% chance of success on both species. Toni assures me that a leopard hunter will have multiple cats feeding and be able to kill the cat in daylight eventhough night hunting is legal. The sable are the most common big antelope in the area and you will see many in the course of your safari. This is the area where two of Tim Herald's group last year in the Niassa actually shot their leopards. I believe it took only two days for them both to score.

Toni has some tremendous elephant but unfortunately they are still not importable into US. It really is a shame as a reasonable expectation would be 65#-85#.

These concessions are not part of the reserve but compromise 1,500,000 acres of wild country with sparse inhabitance just south of the reserve in the Marupa district. These are best accessed by scheduled flght to Pemba from JNB and a charter from there to Marupa where your PH will pick you up for the 40km trip to camp.

Camp is a comfy tented affair with en suite bath offering excluivity for the duration of your safari.

For 2013 there is several open slots with August being ideal as it is not too hot so baits will last and there should have been enough burning for good visibility.

I am hatching a plan to visit both Toni's Delta and Niassa area in the near future. I need one of those Niassa wildebeest badly.

Mike
Guy Whitall and my son Sebastian are partners in Matimbo Safaris Lda and they selling hunts and hunting in the Niassa areas.
RWS is selling hunts in the Delta however I don't know of any direct ownership of RWS of any area in Mozambique.

Technically speaking the leases are:

Coutada 14 Marromeu, Zambezi Delta, Nyati Safaris Lda

Nungo Safari area, Niassa

Mondzo Environmental Lda.
Messalo Safari area

Nhalikanga Reserva de Fauna Bravia Lda.

None of the areas are subleased etc.

Regarding the pictures they are what we send to outfitters/ PH's which want to sell / buy hunts in this areas.

After bad experiences with booking agents at the beginning (1994/5) we did not uses any agents, but knowing Mark Young for years from posting on AR, personal messages and good recommendation from current and past Mozambique operators I trust him fully to represent us in the future.

Cheers

Ozultra,

There are buffalo but not enough to offer hunts for. Sable will average 38"-40".
