Accurate Reloading Forum Members,
For the 2012-2013 Season we are offering some of the best free range aoudad hunts in Texas. We hunt several ranches from the hills of northern Val Verde County to the Chinati Mountains in Big Bend. These hunts will be 3 day hunts that can be extended to up to 5 day hunts. You can expect to take a trophy aoudad ram from 28" on up. We are very passionate about chasing Aoudad Sheep, we believe that hunting aoudad is by far the most challenging hunt in Texas and is a worthy opponet for any big-game hunter. Aoudad hunting for us is about comraderie, challenges, breathtaking views and most of all an adventure you will treasure for a lifetime!. We pride ourselves in our guides and our lands. Our guides are all very accomplished aoudad hunters themselves and love the hunt just as much as our clients do. Our Success rate is usually over 90% but don't be confused this is not a shoot it is hunt and a challenging one at that. Barbary Sheep hunting is a mirror of hunting desert bighorn and takes place in the same areas. This hunt is often refered to as the "Blue Collar Bighorn". Our hunts are limited on each property and we operate on a first come first serve basis

We have hunts available September through December as well February through the end of April at at least one of our ranches. We've just started to book 2012-2013 but we'll be featured on Hunt Wicked Close TV next month so we expect bookings to go fast...

i am going to the DSC Convention from Jan 3-6 and was wondering if i could make this hunt prior to the convention(arrival Dec 30-Sunday- and depart Jan 3). i would want the full package with meals. obviously this is the NewYears holiday but i figured it was at least worth an inquiry. doesn't hurt to ask

I don't want to answer for aoudad hunter but you have to factor in that the hunting area is over 500 miles from Dallas, so unless you flying private or change your schedule a bit, you're going to be pushed for time on the ground.

my thought is to fly into the nearest airport on Sun, hunt 3days and then fly to Dallas on Thurs.

We may be able to fit you in on one of our ranches however that is the last weekend of MLD muledeer season and the prime rut weeks so we might not be able to but I'll surely see what I can do.

Typically our clients fly into midland or San Antonio depending on the ranch being hunted, rent a car and drive the 2.5-3.5 hours to the ranch also depending on the ranch.

what exactly is 'authentic southwestern cuisine'?? I want to hunt an aoudad but if I have to eat burritos I may have trouble... or any other kind of Tex-Mex for that matter.

barbequed aoudad and rattlesnake might sway me...

Really she can cook anything on earth depending on your preference. But typically she will cook steak, breakfast tacos in the morning, usually something light for lunch like sandwiches or grilled chicken salad ect. Then enchiladas, chile rellanos, or a chicken acapulco ect with spanish rice and beans I guess she cooks a lot of traditional Mexican dishes mixed with steak and potatoes. But like I said she can cook whatever you can imagine except most seafood because we can't get fresh seafood in Big Bend but we do occasionally bring fish back from the city.

Gentlemen,

IO was intrigued by the title of this thread.

Can someone please explain to me what "Free Range" Acually means, when I can see feeders and fences shown?

Saeed, "Free-Range" means they can roam freely anywhere in Texas, NM, Mexico ect. as they please. These sheep can jump nearly 8 ft flatfooted from a standstill and if that doesnt work they'll go under or through a fence it makes no difference to them. They are an invasive species imported to Texas in the early 1950's. The feeders are intended for whitetail which is how we got the lease ( an attempt to keep some pressure on the sheep and slow their enormous consuption of protien feed. We only have 1 ranch that has protien and all the others are in the mountains of Big Bend. And they pens around the feeders supposed to help keep hogs out. Texas is 92% privately owned land so what some people refer to as free-range like some big public hunting area is not possible and even those have some type of perimeter and our ranches are plenty big but all of that is irrelevant the aoudad can get by fences as they please with no problem so they might as well not even be considered.

When I use the term "free range", I use it to mean no high fences of any kind.

then we are definatly free-range. I agree to an extent I would say as long as it not more than 60-70% HF only because we hunt a place for whitetail and it is HF about 60% but only because people started buying small 25-50 acre lots next to us and loading it up with feed and just hunting the deer the live on our ranch and we HF next to the highway as well but there is still a large portion low-fenced .
