I received an e-mail from Laura Du Plooy/Muchinga Adventures this AM offering a great price and a very attractive payment plan on a lion in the Chanjusi GMA on the Luangwa river of Zambia. The Zambian lion quota has been dropped considerably since they reopened hunting. Chanjusi had a quota of 4 lions and now has been reduced to 1. Multiply that reduction by a few years and you can only imagine the trophy quality there. I'd be very surprised if a hunter taking this safari did not have multiple cats feeding and could pick the best of the best. Dr. Paula White aged last years Chanjusi lion pictured at 8-9 years and the PH said they turned down 5 other mature lions.

If you are not familiar with Chanjusi it is a GMA right on the Luangwa river and the river is the boundary with the North Luangwa Park. The hunting is very good there and the cat population is incredible. Additionally the area is very good for buffalo plus the river is full of crocs and hippo. PG is good and in 21 days you should find good representatives of common PG plus oddities like puku and Cookson's wildebeest.

Has USFW granted a permit on a Zambia lion that was shot after January 2016?

My understanding is that several permits have been submitted from Zim and Zambia but US,F&G as taken no action on them.

Thanks! A few years ago this would not have gotten advertised as I would have booked it as soon as I knew about it. When the lions are calling at night 200-300 yards from the camp every night and you can watch them make a kill just across the river as you have lunch there's probably plenty of cats around.
