Hello-

I am the outfitter, Jim Welles, JFW Ranch Consulting, LLC, 10600 Eagle Rock, Albuquerque, NM,87122, phone 505-967-6562.

We have 2 UW Muzzle Loader LO permits in the Big Bull unit 13. One of our clients just harvested a 390 during the Sept 1-10 bow season.

This unit is SW of Albuquerque, is big, and includes alot of good elk country. Elk density is fair, QUALITY IS AWESOME! The RMEF Double H Ranch is located in this unit. Eastmans MRS has the Counties of Cibola and Socorro in the top 10 rankings for big bull entries in both B&C and P&Y. Unit 13 encompasses the counties of Cibola, Catron, and Socorro Counties. I can e-mail this info.

The tags allow for 5 day hunts either Oct 9-13 (youth only) Awesome Hunt!, Oct 16-20. Oct 23-27, or Nov 20-24, and the tags are UW including private ranches signed up unit wide. It's my opinion that if you don't have a kid to take Oct 9, then the Oct 16-20 and Nov 20-24 timeframes are the 2 to consider.

The asking price is $2,250 ea + tax.

Thank you,

Jim 505-967-6562

Guys, I can't go this year, or I'd be jumping all over this myself. Unit 13 has some very big bulls, and I say that from personal experience. If you want to kill the biggest bull of your life, this is one of the units you'd want to hunt.
The bull pictured here is a 386" bull I shot in 2002, which was a terrible drought year. With a good moisture year like this year has been, 400" bulls are a definite possibility in unit 13.

Well, as of this AM, both tags are sold......however, cash has not been received as yet, and you know that means you never know till the money is in the account.

Anyway, I have a friend that owns a very large ranch in 13 that has been unbelievably tight in his herd management. He has 106K deeded acres. He has 1 bowhunter on the ranch now and he has 1 hunter coming in late November. He and his wildlife manager have decided to let another hunt go, 1 only in early October. This ranch consistentley produces 350+ bulls free roaming. There is potential for 370+. They do sell hunts per say......A hunter makes a large donation to a 501c3 called El Ranchito de Los Ninos to have the fully outfitted hunt. If this type hunt is anything you'd consider, shoot me a PM for details. This is truly a trophy elk hunt for free ranging elk in unit 13. Jim
