Last year I was asked to guide 'Joe' a retired US General at Takeri Private Reserve on the Kafue River in Zambia. What I thought was going to be a fairly easy hunt turned out to be quite the opposite and we put in the leg work to get our game. I turned down many a good Sable hearing there were some mid 40's on the property. We eventually connected with a beauty towards the end of the safari.

The quality and maturity of the animals were first class. The game is indigenous with the exception of the introduced Kafue Lechwe.

The thickets hide excellent Bushbuck and Blue Duiker which were tricky and can only be stalked on foot.

To finish off the safari we took excellent Puku and an impressive Defassa Waterbuck on the last morning

The estate is partially fenced along the communal boundary otherwise the Kafue river is the majority of the border.

Pricing:

10 full days hunting inclusive of the following:

Sable
Bushbuck
Reedbuck
Defassa Waterbuck
Blue Duiker
Non-trophy Warthog

All vehicle transfers, meals, beverages inc alcohol, gun permits, licensing, etc

TOTAL $12,800

My fee $2,000

Dip and pack $1,500

The dates are fairly open and note here you can hunt well into December.

If that includes trophy fees, it’s a fantastic deal.

I hunted Takari a few yrs ago. Had a wonderful time. Bordered on essentially 3 sides by river makes it interesting. During the rainy season as much as half of it is underwater. Great place to hunt. Some beautiful sable there. If you want a blue Duiker this is a great property to hunt. They are sneaky little buggers. Hard to see. They blend in very well. If you go you'll have a great time.
