New Mexico: Private landowner Elk:update

I have one private landowner Elk tag remaining for the 2011 season. Rifle season usually opens the first week of October, and ends late December; 5 consecutive hunting days. Includes guide, food, lodging on the property and tag for one bull Elk each. Hunt alone or bring a partner. $5,500 per tag plus your NM license (was around $571 this year). 12,000 acres of private land. Land is open grazing land with mixed juniper, however, cattle are gone 1st of October. Easy area to hunt, so those who don't want to climb steep mountains will love it. Hunt from blinds overlooking winter wheat or spot and stalk. I saw Elk every day in late August when I was there hunting Antelope. This is not a high fence ranch. Only cattle fencing. Area is about 1 hour south of Raton in Wagon Mound. Contact me for details.

This is true Butch. I'm going to try and get out there ahead of you for Antelope and Bear, so I should have a recent report when I get back. The G&F just doubled the bear quota so color bear here I come! I hope to get a pic of the big 4x7 freak they took after the previous 3 were taken. Workin' on it.

We are now booked for this hunt. However, I have two spots open for October 8-12 near Chama. 10,000 acres of private land. 5 days, food, lodging, guide, field prep included. Landowner tag included but you must buy your elk license (around $570ish). This season finished with 19 bulls being taken. Only two hunters went home empty, at their choice. They passed up bulls looking for 6x6s. Rifle hunt @ $6,200 per gun. FYI: Good Mulies are there but you must draw. Bear is over the counter.
