KANSAS ARCHERY WHITETAIL '13.

Matt Woodward/Borderland Adventures has been hunting Kansas Unit 1 for three seasons now and is offering some excellent archery hunts for whitetail.

Matt has two adjacent farms leased with multiple stands hung on each. He is only taking two hunters on each hunt and only 8 hunters total so there will be very limited pressure on the deer.

Expectations should be for 130-145 P&Y. For '12 they averaged 139 P&Y but the big boys are here. Hunters are often seeing multiple bucks each day and some huge bucks.

No motel rooms or diner food on this one. Hunters will stay in a house Matt has rented with their own private rooms, hot showers and nice food.

If you finsh up early you can hunt the abundant pheasants over the head guide's pointer. Matt expects if you book a six day hunt to give you six days of hunting regardless of when you shoot your deer.

Pick up is in Hayes,KS that is served by air daily from Denver.

You do have to apply for the draw but your chances are excellent of drawing and all of Matt's archery clients have drawna tag. Cut off is 25 April for the draw.

I have not done this hunt myself but I'm seriously considering it as a crossbow is legal and Matt has two of the super high tech models that will give you a range of 60 yards plus.

Dates open:

Nov 1-6
Nov 7-12
nov 13-18

Price is 2x1 $3750 all inclusive of six full days of hunting, field prep of trophies, license/tag, food/lodging, assistance with applying for the draw and pick up in Hayes.

Dates open:

Nov 1-6
Nov 7-12
nov 13-18

Extras:

Airfare to Hayes
Taxidermy services as necessary
Trophy shipping

Contact me anytime with your questions.

I hunted Kansas down near the Oklahoma border 6 of the last 7 years including last year. The drought had a huge impact there as well as across the entire state, how much has ity effected this area?

2th doc,

I know it has been dry in Kansas but its affect on these farms has not been drastic as reflected in the overall success of Matt's clients.

The biggest impact is in antler growth, not so much in success rates. In parts of Kansas and extreme eastern CO I would guess its been down as much as 15% which is devastating for a trophy hunter. Takes a 200" deer to 170" in extreme cases. Hope you guys get some rain
