How big is the property where the rhino is to be hunted and is it just one particular rhino? And yes, that is a very good price for a white rhino hunt. STAY IN THE FIGHT!

The hunt will be conducted on 11000 acres. There is 27 Rhino's on the property. These are all Cows, Calf's, Breeder bulls and hunting bulls. The hunter will experience a true hunt and will have to work for his trophy. The hunt is only walk and stalk and numerous Rhino's will be viewed before the actual trophy bull is taken.

Are these importable to the U.S.? I wonder what the cost would be to do a life-size mount. That would be incredible.

Hi deadibob Yes, Rhino's are importable to the U.S. I can not speak for taxidermy work thought, but a full mount would be cool. One of my very good friends and hunting client had his Rhino mounted as a full mount. The best would be to dip and ship, then have it mounted back home. Due to the strict regulation of these hunts, the hunter is required to submit the following details for the hunting permit to be processed. The application process is well managed by all the departments. An application process can take anything between 30 to 90 days. HUNTER DETAILS 1.Full Names and Surname 2.Passport Number 3.Passport Issuing Country 4.Taxidermy Name & Address to be used for this particular hunt. (Full particulars of Taxidermist involved in the preparation and exporting of the trophy) 5.Clear copy of clients' passport. 6.Membership of a recognized hunting organization in his/her country of origin. (Official Letter or Certificate of membership) 7.Firearms in hunters name - firearm number and different calibers and any competency certificates. 8.Bookings of all other hunts in South Africa for his hunting safari. 9.Proof of previous hunting safaris in Africa. 10.CV which indicates the hunters hunting experience in his/her country of origin, international and especially in Africa. 11.List of African species that was personally hunted by the client. (List should indicate plains game and dangerous game). 12.Proof of above mentioned hunts (register, permits etc). 13.Photographs of the animals hunted.

Not if the animal has been previously darted and measured which I would think is most likely as the last thing the outfitter can risk, given the strict regulations of these hunts, is a balls up by shooting the wrong one.

]Originally posted by fairgame: 19 inches is a tough call for a PH?[/QUOTE] I think judging any animal and being on the mark each time is a though call, yes, but for the seasoned Professional Hunter it usually isn't that difficult to be fairly accurate in his judgement. Every PH has his field of expertise, the more Kudu, Buffalo, Sable or any specific species he hunt, the better his skills gets. So with the Rhino hunt, the Landowner and primary PH for this hunt is a seasoned hunter and has enough experience to know the differences and make an accurate judgement.
The strict regulation has little to do with the size of the animal, most important is the sex, Bull or Cow that will affect the permit. Some permits, permit the hunt of a cow and some don't. In this case the permit will prohibit the hunting of a cow, as it will be applied for as such. These Rhino's do get darted once in their lives, at a young age (6 Months) they are darted to be microchiped for the data base, this again is done under strict regulation by Nature Conservation. Rhino's don't get darted often, there is always a great risk in loosing an animal during such a darting operation. (The reason for the GREEN HUNT ban) Usually the owner will also have that specific Rhino insured, should things go wrong.
