Hi everyone,
I would like to offer to you all the opportunity to come and hunt Red and/or Sika stags in the Scottish Highlands (Perthshire) in 2021/2022. The Red & Sika stag season starts on the 1st July and ends on the 20th October. Prime hunting months are the second half of September/October this is when the stags are rutting and gathering hinds together but this does not mean you won’t see/shot Red or Sika stags from the start on the season. In July the stags will still be in velvet but they will have lost this in August.
My outfitter has three estates totalling 30,000 acres of unfenced forest and open ground. I stalked on one of these estates in early September this year and took a nice 8-point stag which had a broken back leg, so a good one to take off the hill (see photo below). I have booked again for September 2021 and a fellow AR member and his son will be joining me. We will be hunting Red and Sika stags over three days.

Agent – Mike Taylor Sporting
Outfitter – Ewan Fraser Deerstalking

Stag prices: We don’t charge outing fees and then stag fees on top.
For example: If you booked a three-day hunt and you then shoot three 11-point Red stags, you would just pay the difference between your deposit £900 and the stags £1,575 at the end of the hunt. £900 + £675 = £1,575.

These are 1x1 hunts but we can take two hunters out on the hill as Ewan and his son are both guides.

Red stags up to 11 points £525 per stag
12-point Red stag (Royal) £650 per stag
Sika stags £400 per stag (any size)
Rifle hire per person per day £40 (if not bringing your own rifle)
Preparation of trophies £50 per head (if exporting)
Visitor permit £20 per person

We will apply for the visitor permit on your behalf before you travel to Scotland.

Residents of EU Member States must be in possession of a European Firearms Pass. A photocopy or electronic scan of the EFP has to be forwarded with the application for a UK permit.

For those not resident of an EU Member State, applications should be accompanied by the original, or a copy of, any hunting or firearms licences held in his or her own country as well as evidence of an invitation to shoot in Scotland. We will send you an invitation letter.

Not included in the above prices
International flights to and from Scotland
Hotel accommodation during your hunt (this will include breakfast) we ask guests to book their own accommodation but we will recommend a few hotels
Evening meals and drinks
Meet & Greet at the airport/drive to hotel by me £200 per person return
Car rental at the airport (Edinburgh) if I am not available to collect and drive you to your hotel (2 hour drive)
Shipping of trophies to your own country
Insurance of any kind

Terms and Conditions
All the above prices are excluding VAT (this needs to be added)
Bookings must be made by email and will be confirmed on receipt of a deposit, which is due at the time of booking.
A non-refundable deposit of £300 per person per day is required to secure bookings (paid direct to Mike Taylor Sporting).
Final balance must be paid or payment terms agreed before departure.

With kind regards
Mike

I highly recommend a highlands deer stalking trip if you haven’t done this before. I was fortunate to do this back in October of 1985, on a group trip hosted by the late Major Neal Ramsey, and led by the also late author, Gene Hill.

To this day it remains a very fond memory.

Mike- Is bowhunting legal in Scotland. If so, would you entertain taking bowhunters?

Hi Trapper1

Hunting with a bow is prohibited in the United Kingdom which is such a shame.

Why do Scotsmen wear kilts? Those sheep can hear a zipper from miles away!

Darn, I was getting excited about this as I have a driven pheasant hunt booked in Scotland.

Just checked the dates and my pheasant hunt is October 13 - 19 can't piggyback on it as season ends the next day.

Due to other commitments going earlier is not an option unfortunately.

Well, there is always 2022.

Hi Tanks,

I do offer hind (females) stalking which starts on the 21st October if that's of interest.

If not then I can definitely offer you a hunt on the stags in 2022.

This type of hunt is definitely on my bucket list (in addition to visiting some whisky distilleries).

Is it possible to extend the hunt to 4 or 5 days?

Hi Wade,

Yes you can hunt for 4/5 days. My outfitter only hunts during the week (Monday - Friday) so you could come over a few days before the hunt and visit whisky distilleries/tour the local area. There a few distilleries in the area.
