Hi Guys and Girls,

The Makuya quota came out and I am pleased to inform you that there are a couple of Buffalo tags available still. The quota only came out two weeks ago, so if you jump on this then you can still get in.

What makes this hunt special?

This 40,000acre reserve is open to the Kruger National park for approx. 30 miles along the Levhuhu river. The Park belongs to the Makuya people and managed by the Limpopo Provincial Nature Conservation authority LEDET.

I hunted Buffalo there last year with Dave Ristau who is an old hand here on AR. Him and his buddy Dan killed two fantastic Duggaboys.

Here is the deal: Wild, tough hunting for a truly special free roaming Buffalo trophy bull. Lions and Elephants abound in the area.

Also some free range Nyala that are just fantastic trophy quality. I have to sell the whole quota so they go in packages!

Here is the package:

1 x Cape Buffalo Bull
1 x Impala
1 x Nyala
1 x Zebra
3 x Travel days
7 x Hunting Days

$19,950.00 All in from the airport to the airport.

If you want to be picky with the bull, then you can add days at day fees only of $395.00 per person per day.
Observers $175.00 per day

This area do hold Buff in the 44" to 50" class. Dave can testify to this fact.

Only limit on the hunt is that it must be a bull 10 years or older.

Please direct your inquiries to my web-site.

Dates in August and September available

Many thanks,

Charl has a special opportunity to hunt the amazing Kruger buffalo genetics in a wonderful area full of game. These bulls live their days out with the full array of predators and are completely switched on! The nyala bulls we saw (every day) were absolutely top notch and you should have no problem taking a buffalo and nyala of your dreams. I am planning to go back with friends next summer but this really makes me want to go now! Here is the link to my report but if you have any questions send me a PM.

Love hunting buffalo but want one really spectacular one. This sounds good and the ability to extend is great. What is the basic term?, I didn't see that. I'm assuming 10 days? In that sort of area, I'd want to allow plenty of time, no less than 14 and hunt nyala if you shot out early.

This is a great area. Plenty of big old buffalo bulls.
The quality of Nyala is like nowhere else in Africa.

I literally grew up in the area and know the park like the back of my hand. I used to do plenty of tiger fishing in the Levubu river as a kid. This is as wild as it gets. Anyone looking for a true wild hunt, this is it.

I can recommend Charl's Makuya park, Buffalo hunt to anyone who is interested in a true wild African safari.

Gread deal Charl.

Sorry, we have been flat out hunting with a big group and I did not have time for the computer.

7 days is enough to shoot a giant bull here, but you have to be fit and be able to walk, and climb.

It is not an easy hunt.

Please direct any serious inquiries to my email address, I get them on my phone and can respond quickly.

Many thanks,

Is this a high fence hunt?

The "high fence or not" comment near the end has some wondering.

Larry - These areas "open to the Kruger" are just that. No fence separates the hunting area from the Kruger National Park (5 million acres)

I've never seen one without and "outer" perimeter fence, but the game can range freely back/forth from the park, etc.

Wild buffalo, and generally good hunting. I shot my biggest bull ever - 45", on a place that I suspect is similar to this. The big question to ask on all of these, is there a size restriction on your hunt/bull? Doesn't seem to be, but now you have to age your buff too?!?!

What's good for the Goose is good for the Gander!

Someone we know got the age thing started for Lion, Leopard followed shortly after and now its being applied to Buffalo!

Next you know it will be a requirement across the board for all game, Guinea Fowl included. What a load of BS!

Aaron,

I am led to believe in these areas they are required to target the older solitary bulls - dagga boys - hence the age limitation which would restrict the hunting of herd animals.

I doubt these bulls will score very well but awesome trophies in their own right.

Lion hunting was closed down here for a few years here because some operators resorted to shooting very young Lions to fulfil their over inflated quotas.

New age regulations along with the threat of punitive action has witnessed a dramatic reduction in off takes and a noticeable increase in quality.

But as you have stated there is a limit to where we go with ageing.

Just to clarify.

As Mr. Neilson rightly pointed out, there are some size restrictions in reserves open to Kruger. Very few operators advertise it as such. Those reserves are also open to Kruger but the land is in privte ownership.

Makuya belongs to the native Venda people and the provincial government have a mandate from the King to regulate the hunting there.

The above is in short and in laymans terms. There are more to it but that is not relevant.

There is NO RESTRICTION on trophy size and the protocol that you will sign before the start of the hunt clearly states the Bull must be " at least 10 years in appearance or older". They do not age them. Not like like Lions in Tanzania.

It is a wide open statement that is not enforced, but protects the Park of course if a PH shoots a 46" 5 year old soft bull.

The quota is determined by LEDET and KRuger signs off on it.

Makuya is famous for the top class Buffalo and Elephant trophies that it produced over the years.

Mr. Neilson is further correct in his assessment of the fence. This area is different from the APNR as it is tucked away in the far northern Corner of Kruger, with NO people living in the reserve.

I hope this explains it well enough.

SOLD

There are no more PG on quota, but I have two more Buffalo that we will offer for $19,500.00, just for the Buffalo hunt.

The rest of the quota, sans the PG, stays the same.

Larry, the quote at the bottom is my own personal opinion on hunting, that is why it is inverted. It is part of my signature line.

I am fortunate to hunt in other African countries as well, and I believe that just a good hunt can be had for a Kudu on our 10,000acre fenced ranch as for a Buffalo in an open area in Mozambique.

As long as the animal is self sustainable and reproducing and can give us a work out getting it, then I am happy!

As I said, my own personal opinion.

Thanks for asking!
