The North Coast British Columbia is to Mountain Goat hunting what the Selous is to free range Cape Buffalo hunting. A remote great wilderness, the Great Bear Rainforest has produced four of the top five Mountain Goats, and the only odd one out of the five is from just across the border into Alaska in the same mountain range. Lets take a crack at making it all five.

Utterly and spectacularly remote, this is an extremely physical hunt and hunters need to be in “Sheep Shape” for this as well. The territory is 2,100 square miles with no roads, and is accessed by floatplane or boat from the ocean depending on the season. This is truly a hunt where you challenge yourself, and the payoff couldn’t be greater. For the comparison outfitters my neighbours are Bolen Lewis and Milligan.

Rate for 2017 if booked 2016 is $9500US and charter / access cost at direct invoice cost (average $2200), if I can split this with another group I will, but the timing is always a fluid consideration so won't promise it. The usual government fees are licence $180, tag $350, harvest $150, and 2.5% sales tax, and GOABC Hunter Prsservation Fund $200. Hunts are ten days and start August 1st and go through Nov 15th, 2x1 is an option at $8500 per hunter, and the $1100 access cost each (more lifts off the alpine lakes and a bigger plane required, but I'll cover that).

You will come away with a proper adventure and deep wilderness experience, hunting the biggest Mountain Goats in the world. Ask about adding Moose, rainforest Bear, Sitka deer, or Fishing, all world class here and get a lot of bang for your buck, as normally just the Salmon and Steelhead fishing is $1500 a day regionally.

That is a bargain basement price in mountain goat Mecca. Outstanding offer Angus.

Thanks guys for the kind words! It is extremely short notice, but somebody might be able to swing things to make it happen. It'll be a good hunt and rather interesting as a good chance we'll hunt a brand new spot, that's the whole idea early season. The new world #9 was taken very close to where we'll be headed in one of those unhunted spots last year by a motivated and admirable resident hunter.

And my favourite part about August goat hunting... NO snow!

what is the airport closest to your hunting area?

the photos are beautiful but not in my budget and not a huge fan of steep drop offs so goats aren't my thing but just thinking ahead for something like one of your bear hunts in the future
