Folks,

One leopard has come available on the Luangwa river for '17 with good dates still open. The Luangwa is arguably the best leopard hunting in Africa. The area is Chanjuzi that is sandwiched between Nyaminga that I hunted in 2012 just down river, the fantastic Chifunda GMA just upriver and directly across the Luangwa from the North Luangwa Park. We killed a big leopard plus a lion on that '12 safari quite easily in mid-September. In Chanjuzi it would be normal to have multiple cats feeding and kill the biggest of them early in the hunt.

Johnnie Du Plooy/Muchinga Safaris that previously had Chanjuzi is marketing this hunt for Impanga Safaris who are the current lease holder for Chanjuzi. This marketing is with full written permission of the Zambian Wildlife Authority. Johnnie Du Plooy never failed to have a client get a good shot at a Tom in the whole time he had the Chanjuzi GMA. Shoot well and you should have your leopard.

Buffalo are abundant. Traveling between Nyaminga and Chanjuzi we saw literally hundreds of buffalo along the river. Hippo plus croc are very common and the Luangwa is the only place I would recommend a buff/hippo/croc combo even on a short 7 day hunt.

Pretty sweet deal in some beautiful country. Can't believe you can add a Cookson's for $3,500. There weren't a lot there in 2010 but I managed to get a large bull on a 7 day Buff hunt with Johnny.

You got lucky. It took me 4 safaris to kill a Cookson's. I passed a really big one on my first trip in there. I wanted to shoot a croc instead. Roll Eyes
