UGANDA - East African Roan

The Hunt:

A hunter has cancelled rather late in the day, so we can offer an East African roan bull at a pretty decent price. It will be only the second roan hunted in our area, and the second hunted in Uganda since 1976, far as we can tell! There is an impressive population of roan in the area, it would be rare not to encounter groups daily. It is reasonable to expect an excellent bull in the plus 26" range. Only lone bulls, or an old bull within a small bachelor group, away from any family or larger group, will be taken.

Other species will be available but will be limited to those for which we have tags left as this hunt is late season. Definites will be Guenthers dik dik ($950), EA bush duiker ($600), Oribi ($600) and EA Bohor reedbuck ($1,000). Possibles will include both EA and Nile bushbuck, Defassa waterbuck, Jacksons hartebeest, Chanlers Mtn reedbuck, Patersons (EA) eland and klipspringer.

This hunt is listed this year as 12 days for $22,200 day rates alone. We are offering it here as a 9 day hunt for $16,000 including hunting permit and firearm permit.

Includes: daily rates, hunting permit and firearm permit, road transport to/from camp in Karamoja.

Charter if wanted is $3,700 return. Due to volume of road works which makes it a 9 hour drive each way, charter is not a bad option!

Roan trophy fee: $7,000

Extras: dip & pack for 4 trophies $500, up to 8 trophies $800, rifle hire option $50 per day including ammo.
Accomadation on arrival and/or before departure in Entebbe.
