Outfitter: Routier Outfitting

Location: NW South Dakota in Harding County. Closest towns would be Buffalo or Camp Crook

Weapons: Archery Or Rifle

Species: Whitetail Deer

Season Dates: The archery season dates have not been released yet. Traditionally the season starts the last Saturday of September and goes until December 31.

The rifle season dates have not been released yet. Traditionally the season starts the second Saturday of November and goes to the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

License Deadline And Fees: Archery licenses are traditionally $285 and guaranteed. There is no deadline as long as you have your license before the hunt. You do have to send in a application. This is good for one any animal.
That means you can shoot one buck or doe, Whitetail or Mule Deer. This hunt is targeting Whitetail but if a Mule Deer walks by that you like you are free to take him at the same price.

Doe only licenses are $55 and you can have several of them and if you are willing please take as many as you can. I can sure find a place for the meat and we are getting too many Whitetail.

There are actually two different kinds of rifle licenses. The first one is called the Special Buck License and the deadline is April 19. This is good for one buck of either species. Like I said earlier this is targeting Whitetail but if a Mule Deer is spotted that you like you are free to take him at the same price. You have roughly a 70% chance at drawing this license.

The other license is the General Drawing and cost $285 and is good for Whitetail only. Some years this license is very hard to draw and other years there are leftover licenses. This application is due later in the summer.

Prices And Packages: Archery hunts are five full days at the price of $2750 +5.5% South Dakota sales tax.

This includes all of your guides, lodging and meals. You stay right in the ranch house with us and have your own bedroom and bathroom. Meals are home cooked ranch style meals. If you are allergic to anything or have special meal needs please let us know.

Rifle hunts are four full days of hunting at the cost of $2750 +5.5% South Dakota sales tax.

This includes all of your guides, lodging and meals. You stay right in the ranch house with us and have your own bedroom and bathroom. Meals are home cooked ranch style meals. If you are allergic to anything or have special meal needs please let us know.

Terrain And Hunting Methods: Archery hunting is done mostly with blinds and tree stands. They are placed on trails to and from the begging and feeding areas. We also do some spotting and stalking if we find the right situation. This is done on the river bottoms, pine tree covered hills, brushy draws and tree grounds.

Rifle hunting is mostly spot and stalk with some ambush and drive methods included. We will have hunting terrain that consist of river bottoms, pine tree covered hills, rolling prairie, sagebrush flats, Badlands and brushy draws.

I bowhunted Randy's place last fall, and will again this fall, for pronghorn. After shooting my buck the firs day I hiked on the ranch and saw a very good 4x4 whitetail and lots of mule deer. This would be an excellent hunt on a great property. Randy and his family will treat you right.
