Mokore Safaris/Duckworths has openings throughout the season on their Coutada 9 concession in Mozambique. This area offers in my experience the best unfenced plains game hunting in Africa. The spiral horns are particularly good there. Even on a 7 day hunt you should expect a mid 50's kudu or larger. I've never had a failure there on big livingstone's eland, Chobe bushbuck are excellent (I shot 17") and Nyala get better every year. I had one client fail on an early season hunt for sable but otherwise everybody has taken one. Warthog although not on the top of most people list are incredible there with 13"-17" a reasonable expectation.

Camp as you can see in the pictures is an East Africa type tented affair and very comfortable with great food plus service.

The area itself is huge at 250,000 acres and only has a handful of indigenous inhabitants. Terrain is in most cases open forest with easy walking. If you like to walk the Duckworth will oblige you in spades.

The hunting here is very good but I think what really makes this hunt special is that it offers a "Classic" wild safari experience without the cost of a dangerous game safari.

Is there any buffalo hunting there?

There aren't many buffalo there and their not offering any "buffalo" hunts but if you find some you can upgarde.

Below is a buffalo from there so you can see the genetics are excellent. 49"!!!!!!!!!!!

That buff looks a little soft in the middle.


Seriously this is a great area, great camp, and the Duckworth's are great to deal with.

What are the chances to get both sable and eland on a 10 days hunt? And what are the best time during the season to hunt these?

Based on my experience there last September, I think your odds would be excellent. If it matters to you, the sable are of the shorter horned, slightly brownish variety. We bumped into sable every other day without looking for them while hunting eland.

I would fully expect you to take sable and eland plus others in 10 days. Mid August through October is the best time to be there. Very tall grass in the early season restricts visibility until it is burned as it dries. Sept/Oct is ideal.
