robncoloradoCovid test no longer required for admittance to RSA
I just received notice that travelers will no longer be required to provide positive test results to be admitted into RSA and Zimbabwe. Proof of vaccination within 14 days of arrival is required.

cal pappasReports state the PCR test is no loger required for those vaccinated.
"proof of vaccination within 14 days of arrival" I did not see. does this mean the vaccination had to be within 14 days? Makes not sense as the vaccination's two shots are a month apart and the booster comes 4 months later.

Cal I paraphrased the message, but I believe it was “fully vaccinated” within 14 days of……..

miketaylorSo we need to provide proof that we are fully vaccinated to someone in Zimbabwe within 14 days of arriving?
It can't be that we need to be fully vaccinated within 14 days of arrival!?
With kind regards

Bill CThis is for/from Namibia but the same logic should be applied to other countries as to what the requirements are and what constitutes full vaccination status:
https://na.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/Other countries may/will have different timelines.

Baker458That's great news for the vaxxed. Rest of us have to have a PCR result issued within 72hrs of departure from US for RSA. That's nice, it's 48hrs for Zim, so this is a more forgiving "window" for test results to come in.
When you have two groups, equally likely to be carrying Covid: testing one group and not the other is good science. No doubt this move will flatten the curve.

cal pappasI will be in South Africa to early June then fly to Zimbabwe. Is a PCR mandatory for Zim?

UPDATE | ZIM PCR TEST REQUIREMENTS
We are excited to announce that as of 1 April 2022, fully vaccinated visitors and returning residents will no longer be required to provide a negative PCR Test when entering or leaving Zimbabwe
Here is a breakdown of the new regulations:
* Children below the age of 12 do not need a PCR Test even if not vaccinated
* All passengers 12 years of age and over will only need a PCR Test (obtained 48 hours before departure to Zim) if they have not been fully vaccinated. Travellers will be required to show proof of vaccination.
* Fully vaccinated to enter Zimbabwe means one dose of a single dose vaccine such as Johnson & Johnson or both doses of a two-dose vaccine such as Astra Zenica or Pfizer.
* A negative COVID-19 PCR test is no longer a requirement for departure from any Zimbabwean international airport or land borders unless the onward destination or airline requires it.
