Just bought my tickets to Windhoek but I'll have to overnight in Johannesburg. I would have preferred bypassing JNB but you all bought out all the seats on the days I wanted to travel. I'm going to check my luggage and guns all the way from Portland to Windhoek so that I don't have to be hassled with SAPS at JNB. My question, for you who have done that recently - Is it still done that way or do I have to check my guns in and out of JNB because I'll be in SA longer than 12 hours? Namibiahunter .

The necessity of overnighting in Johannesburg when traveling to Windhoek makes that route slower and probably more expensive than going through either London or Frankfurt. It also creates the issue of dealing with your guns during the layover. If you have the option of changing your tickets, you might want to consider the European route.
