Will be traveling to Zimbabwe this summer and have one ouestion, I know that your rifle case must be locked with a lock whose key you control but what about the ammo box. Personal lock or TSA lock?

Regular key or combination lock on your gun case. TSA lock on your ammo box.

Originally posted by Labman: I've always used a TSA lock and never had any problems. I did however have the idiots at TSA in New York cut the TSA lock on my luggage.
Couldn’t remember what I did first time but last time used same locks as rifle case and when I got to Seattle to transfer to Emeriates found that one lock was cut but the other was fine. Go figure.

Flew Emirates from Seattle to Dubai last year. Emirates wants the ammo box locked. TSA cut off the lock. Bought a TSA toy lock at the Seattle airport, and then everyone was happy.
Get a set of quality locks for the gun case. Use a TSA lock on the ammo!

I use TSA locks on my ammo box and non-TSA locks on my gun case. It is also a good idea to carry extra locks. Once I asked at check-in if they wanted to look in the ammo box. They said no, but somewhere along they cut it anyway. Glad I had spares. A couple of years ago I had gone through the customs check in Atlanta and was in line to check my gun case for the flight to Salt Lake City. The guy ahead was having trouble because TSA or someone had cut his locks. Delta would not let him check his gun case without locks, so I gave him my spare pair and keys. Hope he made it home OK.
