Has anyone used the Qatar Airways flight from Philadelphia to Johannesburg? I'm worried about the short layover in Doha. On the way over the layover is only an 1hr 30min and on the way back its only 1hr 50min. Are these lay overs too short? Thanks.

Is this a through flight or do you change flight numbers?

IF no changes, it should be doable....I have no clue if that is enough time to change in Doha...sorry.

I've never flown Qatar and didn't know they had a flight from Philly. Since that is my near my home it may be a viable alternative to NY or Dulles on SAA. I would however be concerned with those connection times if you have to change planes. Especially if you're traveling with firearms. I normally like a minimum of 3 hours between flights.

I did a flight once from Atlanta (on Delta) with a short layover in Joberg then a connection to Harare. The flight was delayed leaving Atlanta and I missed my connection. I got on the next flight to Harare, but despite repeated assurances from British Air folks that my bag & guns were on the flight to Harare, they weren't. I'll never do that again.
